Myself and 4 other students saw cheating. It was reported to the dean, advisors, the director and the teacher was supposed to be notified. Nothing was done.
We take our exams online on our laptops and during the midterm two students had Google up searching for the answers. One also had her class power points up. These students received a 98 on their exams. It's really easy to look up and see this in front of you especially when you hear typing and not the clicking a multiple choice answer.
I wasnt actually the one who initially reported it but I did tell my advisor. What bothers me isn't that they even cheated exactly. Hard to explain but what bothers me is that the school was notified and no action taken. Like what is all this talk of integrity and doing the right things if the school doesn't uphold to that and allows cheating.
I understand one word against another and no proof too. Just I thought there'd be some acknowledgment to the class as a whole or change in test taking.
Not going to let this bother me much, I was just disappointed at the school ignoring it.
Do you see cheating in your nursing program?
Cheating is everywhere. It's definitely not limited to nursing.
For me, I've turned a blind-eye to it. They can do them.
I need to focus on myself, I just want to get my BSN without causing unnecessary drama or tension in class tbh. Nursing school is hard as it is. And I need to focus my attention on schoolwork versus petty drama.
I have to admit that cheating is one of my biggest pet peeves. My program was full of people who cheated. The most recent incident occurred when my professor stated he could only grade 5 papers because the rest were blatantly cut and pasted. In fact, he said that the annotation numbers had not been removed after they copied it!! how lazy.
We are supposed to have integrity, and yet it seems there are no consequences for actions. Instead, my professor simply gave them a chance to redo it. My advice? do the right thing even when no one is looking. (best advice my grandmother ever gave me) lol
good luck and stay strong!

Well, that's real nice. Excuse me if I state for the record that I really hope that I and my loved ones are blessed with nurses who actually didn't cheat their way through school. Same goes for doctors, pilots, and anyone else charged with public safety.

The NCLEX is the ultimate decider though. If folks cheated throughout the whole program they likely will have alot of trouble passing the NCLEX

I have issues with the integrity of a nurse who cheated her way through nursing school, even if she was able to pass the NCLEX. I don't want someone who engages in serial dishonesty taking care of me or my loved ones. This kind of person might be charting vital signs they didn't take, not owning up to a med error, or any number of dishonest actions that could negatively impact care.
Just for clarification "take home quizzes" or homework, and you use a book or the internet isn't cheating. Teachers aren't dumb they know students will look up the answers...it's up to the student to comprehend the material and if by chance they graduate and pass the NCLEX then good for them.
I don't pay attention to enough people while I'm in class to know if they cheat or not and nor do I really care if they do, they're the ones risking getting into trouble. I have a small class size and they're actually all great. If I saw one of them cheating I wouldn't report it I'd probably just say something to them just to let them know I saw them, I'm not about ruining anyone's life.
All of our tests are on the computer and if you click out or open another browser the test shuts off and you're screwed, also we can't wear our smart watches so our class couldn't cheat unless they wrote answers somewhere a teacher couldn't see. Your teacher might not really care or they might be doing something in secret. It seems people care more about people getting into trouble than doing what is right though. Human nature.

I also really learn what I get wrong and didn't know. Just this weekend another girl admitted to me that she cheats on the exams because she can search the questions in quizlet. I'll try not caring and hopefully she won't be a nurse who unintentionally harms her patients because she cheated her way through school.
