Try Craigslist, ebay, barnes & noble, borders
Just make sure they dont change books in the next year. Maybe you can stash away some money each paycheck for books & then closer to your entrance date, search those sites. I'd just be afraid they'd switch books and then you're out of luck.
Good luck!
p/s - I just got one of my books off Craigslist and saved over $100 on that one book alone!
Also - I know a girl who went to the school's library (we have hospital libraries we can use) and she checked out a book for a few weeks until she had the correct amount of money. I also know another girl who checked out a book for the entire semester! She'd check it out for the time alloted - return it and check it back out. Risky in hoping it's there but it's worth a shot!
I typically use http://www.cheapestbookprice.com to find my books and always find great deals! Instead of paying almost $600 for books next semester I managed to reduce costs to just over $300 including shipping!
Good luck :)
Check out -
Just a word of advice, make sure the edition and title are exactly the same as the one you need for class. I have bought the "international" edition - it was cheaper, but they are not resellable on some of the respected websites. Good luck!!
Hi there,
Just had to order some rental books from a rental company called www.bookrenter.com
Also there is www.chegg.com for rental, but they don't have 2 day shipping.
A good book comparison site that will search for the cheapest prices to get all the books you need is www.bigwords.com . This site will also link you to the right place to see if your book is still available. Check it out. It pointed me in the direction of rentals when I didn't even know they existed.
Hi there...based on your "screen name", I'm assuming that you are a CCAC student here in Pittsburgh. I am also starting in January at the Allegheny Campus. Based on the letter I received from the school, you must purchase your books in the Nursing 101 packet at the bookstore and then bring everything with you to orientation. I also received a list of the required text books, but they caution you that if a newer edition is available at the time that they put the packets together, you will need the latest edition. It is a pain, I know and the first semester is supposed to be the most expensive (at least for books) because you are purchasing your drug guide, manual for laboratory & diagnostic tests, etc., so it's not just the texts tat you will need for class. I don't know if this helps you, but you may want to conact your nursing facilitator at CCAC about all of this before you spend money buying books online that you may not be able to use and may not be able to return.
