  1. I feel like I will get through nursing school (if I get through it) just by luck, and not actually know anything because I can pass tests without reading the books :-X ; the teachers stress how much of a self-directed program it is, and they don't really teach.
  2. Lol at all the people who fear that the moment they step inside the city borders of Compton that they will be shot, robbed or assaulted in some way. Its hilarious in a sad way.
  3. 1st semseter here, so far I've spent $265 on uniforms, $45 background check, $330 for books (but i havent got them all, i need 3 or so more), $65 on shoes, $25 for what my insurance didnt cover for the physical and titers. I have yet to purchase my $130 nurse kit from the school, my cpr cert, and im sue theres more i'm forgetting.
  4. IT would be nice if they did, but i dont know if they do. Thank you. I only applied at Compton. But I know people who didnt get in at compton that did get into Southwest and ELAC no problem.
  5. For the night program Compton only admits for Spring. The day program starts Fall. There wasnt a waiting list prior to this semester, but now there might be. El Camino's main campus is referring a bunch of their students to compton for the program since they've closed their list and are accepting everyone on their waiting lists.

And boyfriend has been put on minimum 2 year commitment (after 5 years already) for support. Will you be working fulltime/parttime/not at all: Probably part-time, but for my dad at his small business as i have for the last 5 years. If loans come through and I can eat without working, i will work not at all/only when he really needs my help.
  7. As everyone else has said "get back on the horse." IMO, you wouldn't have bothered posting this if you really wanted to quit trying. I think you need a few people to tell you that you can do it. So, you can do it. Keep trying!
  8. i use chegg.com to rent books that i wont need when the semester is over, but you have the option to buy if you want. their books usually get to me in 5 days or less. If I actually buy a book, i usually google the ISBN and try my luck finding the best price that way.
  9. ::looks at nails of 3 different colors:: You mean I can't do this in school?
  10. I will be starting nursing school (RN) next month, I'm too anxious/excited/nervous for all of it. When I got my acceptance letter i decided to start a blog that will hopefully give me something to look back upon this experience, help other (pre)nursing students, have people travel along this journey with me, and keep me from boring everyone in my life with random ramblings in student nurse talk that I know they care nothing about. it's eccnursingstudent.blogspot.com for anyone who might be interested. At this point, it's not too interesting, it's just a newborn blog-baby. I will have to make myself keep up with this one. Thanks for sharing your first day! Im patiently waiting for.. oh gosh, im not even sure what day mine starts... my first day :-X
  11. ATItesting.com buy the online tests and study guide, you could probably find the study guide on ebay or amazon for less. They will help you get a feel for what is on the test and also help you learn a bit. The study guide gives you a section of information about a given topic, then there's a testing part, and then they have the correct answers with an explanation why they are correct. Good luck! It wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be, but it's different for everyone.
  12. Hey. I'm new here too. I'm D'yani, 21, from Los Angeles area, one kid who will be 2 years old dec 30th. I am waiting for my acceptance letter in the mail for a program starting spring 09. Welcome!!
