Chances of acceptance

Both GPAs are low according to many that have posted their GPAs on this site. In addition, NO being male does not mean anything to nursing schools. You have the same chance a a female candidate with the same grades.

Have you looked at the stats for the schools you're considering?

I agree with Don1984- honestly, those stats are low compared to the stats of those being accepted. Do you have any way to raise those grades?

Even if you look like George Clooney and they won't mind seeing you around I don't think being male will give any added influence.

If you've already taken all math/science prerequisites take more math/science non prerequisites to raise that gpa. You may be able to use lessons learned on past classes to improve your grades on similar classes.

Talk to your counselor at the college. Apply anyway when you're finished with the prerequisites, and if you don't get accepted you know whether or not to retake any science classes. It also depends on the schools you're applying to because some look at majority of your TEAS score, some a majority of your GPA, and other schools look at those things plus volunteer work and experience. Thanks for the advice guys! I am planning on applying after these prerequisites and I will apply to chamberlain as a back up. Do you guys have any opinion on chamberlain as an overall program because accreditation seems to be an issue with them.

Doing things like volunteering may or may not help you, doing well on the TEAS may or may not help you, etc. It depends on the school. Some look at a lot of factors including letters of recommendation, an essay, volunteer work, all classes and test scores. Some look at 3 prereqs and the TEAS and don't give a rat's butt about anything else, and it would be a waste of time to do anything but get extremely good grades and test scores. Some let you retake and some don't. In any case, schools just about everywhere are extremely competitive, especially near major cities, and those are, sorry, pretty low stats.

I would talk to an adviser for school specific advice and more than likely plan on retaking some classes. Maybe apply into LPN as a backup plan, or perhaps see if there's any schools that go on a lottery system.
