Chamberlain School of nursing

I talked to my teacher at GCC regarding this school and she advised me to wait to see what their passing rate is. You take a risk with any new school of not getting a good education and that could hurt you in the long run. I agree with my teacher and believe that its not a good idea to go to a "new" school. I've also read feedback on their other schools in other states and from what I can tell, it doesn't have a good reputation. In my opinion I bet you could compare it to Ethel Bauer. I am desperate to get into school, I have been waiting for about a year now for the community colleges and it is driving me crazy. If you are in this same situation, just hang in there, our time will come. Don't risk your education because of not wanting to wait. Patience is key :-)

I am going to the open house tonight to check it out. I am definitely feeling cautious about a brand new school. But I want explore every avenue. I'll post any good info I get.

Kris100...Let us know. I just think that the type of education you can get from the community colleges is just as good if not better than these private schools. Are they held to a higher standard? Im gonna keep taking my pre-req's and even if it takes me until Im 40 that's ok. (Im 32) I will still have a good 20 years to put in as a nurse.....

Hi guys, just got back from the open house. It was pretty informative, tons of people there. Anyway, the basics are: $18,000 per year and it's 3 years if you have no pre-req's to earn the BSN. They do take all of your community college pre-req's so that determines how long the program is for you. They take 50 people every March, July, and October. It's based on GPA and they were telling us that it's highly competitive. They go by previous college GPA and also high school and SAT scores. Which is a tough one for me since I graduated 11 years ago. They gave us a list of clinical sites and I wasn't very impressed with the list (some were even in Payson!). And they were saying that you have to have a VERY flexible schedule. The campus was decent. They were saying that their other school in (ohio?) just had a graduating class with a 100% pass rate on the boards.

My personal impression is that it could be a very good school but it's ALOT of money, especially when you consider that you are going to be a guinea pig. I don't think it's worth the risk for me. I also don't want to have to deal with high school transcripts and taking another test (if you don't have your SAT's you have to take a TEAS test ) I'm also not that flexible since I have two kids under the age of 7. I just got my name on the waiting list last fall for the MCC's so I think I'll just bide my time and wait it out for the tried and true...

Kris, Im in the same boat! I have 3 kids, one toddler, an 11 yr old, and a 13 yr old. This has been one reason school has taken so long and been so inconsistent. They come first and if one program doesn't work out, or I cannot get a certain class at a certain time, I just skip that semester. I was originally going to do an LPN program and even that was going to start too early. What classes do you have done? I tried to PM you but when I clicked on your name it would allow me to. Hello to all! I just wanted to let you guys know that I just attended the information session for Chamberlain School of Nursing here at Arlington, VA. I have a lot to write about; however, if anyone is curious about the Arlington campus, please let me know!

For anyone still considering or waivering because they weren't sure about the pass rates for Chamberlain...they had their first class graduate in July and the school has a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX!

I am currently attending Chamberlain, and have been for a year. I graduate next year! I personally really like the program. They do have high standards that must be kept to due to their accreditation. But, I also wanted to let you know that, even though I love this school and its education, I do have to give the stats behind the pass rate.

The pass rate is 100%, but there were only 4 students in the first graduating class. So, the next graduating class willl have a much greater number (closer to 50, I believe). Just an FYI. I think it's way worth the money to get right in and get your BSN versus waiting for two years (when you could've graduated in that time) and losing money (in the time you could've been working). My personal feelings.... In all nursing schools, "You get out what you put in!"

The odds of all four of them passing is still pretty good...I'm not understanding if you are discounting that. The fact that they ALL made it through a new program where there are others failing is pretty darn amazing! Oh and the next class has more like 25-30. :)
