What are your thoughts about Chamberlain College of Nursing FNP program?
I am located in the Chicagoland area. Has anyone in the same area had trouble finding FNP preceptors for their clinicals? I don't have any contacts with any FNPs and was wondering how you went about making preceptor requests. Was there any clinics that had preceptors that were more accommodating than others to the request to precept? How helpful was CCN in their guidance?
I'm set to start the program here in May and had a couple of questions for a graduate.
How is the job search? Did you/are you having any trouble as a Chamberlain graduate vs. a more traditional program? Did you feel fully prepared for certification?
I tend to do well in the online setting and feel like the 8 week sessions will work the best with my current job schedule, but still hesitate just a little bit with the for profit vs. traditional university and the possibility of having trouble finding a job after graduation.
Before these schools even have a chance of offering these programs they must be accredited by different organizations. So your instructor stating these schools are being cracked down on is lunacy. Not all students are classroom material. Many students have successfully graduated and acquired jobs. It is such an eye roller when I read how these schools are this and that. everyone and what works for them. Before these schools can even offer the program they must be approved, students are sitting for boards, its not just a certification. I laugh when I hear you will get not get a job because you did online school. We also have to do long hours of clinical just like everyone else. We interact with our professors and have learnt a great deal and we also learn to be independent thinker.
