Chamberlain FNP 2015 (looking for previous & new students)

Published

Hi!

I am looking to start Chamberlain about July 2015. I am seeking students that are already in the course and want to provide some insight into the courses/advice.

Also looking for soon to be students to link up.

All the previous threads are from previous years so it's time to start a new thread.

thaara3, I will email it to you.

I have been in the program for a little over a year. I have about one year left. I doubled up on classes during two sessions. It was difficult but doable. I still work fulltime and have two children under five years old. So far I've been very impressed with the education I am receiving. Some instructors are better than others but they all are very experienced in their specialties. My only complaint so far is that I feel the process of securing a clinical preceptor is vague and anxiety producing. I am to start clinicals in July. I am trusting everything will fall into place as far as that goes. Otherwise I am happy that I went with Chamberlain.

oh thank you,.so good to hear from a person who is already in it. that gives me positive look... thank you.. wow , u took two classess a time?.. with little ones.. ? way to go girl.. good luck finding a good preceptor, keep us updated , and let us know how is things going..

thank you.. redcarnation... my email [email protected]

Hi everyone! I am starting in July 2015 as well!

Hi everyone! I will be starting in July. I am a bit nervous so any info anyone wants to share will be great!!

Can someone please send me the syllabus too? [email protected]

Hello everyone! I'm just finishing up my last 2 classes on my RN-BSN program and I'm determined to go straight into the MSN/FNP. I've narrowed it down to South University and Chamberlain.

I'm very thankful for all the honest opinions you have posted as they definitely help us potential students make informed decisions. BTW, I'm in Miami and would like to start Fall 2015 -- If anyone is in the same situation, I would love to exchange information and create some sort of group to support one another through the program.

Please feel free to continue to share as you're helping lots of people with your insightful information.

If you are looking for honest opinions of several nurses who are in the middle of Chambelain FNP program, visit

their facebook page. Do a search for Chamberlain college on nursing MSN FNP in facebook.

I have learned a lot from their group, and I am now applying to other FNP programs.

Hey RedCarnation,

Thanks for the tip... I'll continue to gather info on their program. It is a huge decision and would ideally be as well-informed as possible.

In the meantime, feel free to PM me and share what was the one reason that weigh the heaviest in your decision to not attend Chamberlain.

Thanks!

I was so excited to start their program this July, that I joined their private FB site last November. Main complaint from over half of the FB members is that they are fairly unhappy with the school, because they have grown way too fast and cannot take care of existing students. Examples given are - difficulty getting help with setting up clinical sites, inconsistent information, teacher's not responding to their emails, unorganized staff, quick turn-over of counselors/advisors and school not notifying them, so they are left to scramble to set up with new advisors.

Additionally, they believe teachers should take the time to create online recorded lectures for pharm/patho/ health assessment classes; since the exams are so difficult and most of them are getting low grades in those classes.

I must add that there are lots of student's voicing that it has been a very difficult /stressful ride, but still worth it for them. A few of them will be the first FNP group to graduate this April, they have promised to give us feed back after taking the boards.

Anyhow, after gathering all this info, i have moved my starting date to September and in the mean time, I am applying to other online schools.

RedCarnation,

I'm very appreciative of your honest and prompt response. I can absolutely see why anyone would be feeling this way about Chamberlain. I've been trying to speak to my 'adviser' for a while and somehow I always miss her, exchange e-mails and continue on trying... This happened again just today (again...). The primary reason why I'm still even considering them is their cost for tuition. In addition to being very competitive, they offer additional discounts for being affiliated to certain organizations. If I were to finally speak to someone there, apply, and get accepted; I'd be starting in September with you.

I'm also applying to (and seriously considering) South University as they have been absolutely phenomenal in providing guidance and support through the application process. They are also competitive although they don't offer additional discounts.

This is very stressful and choosing the right school could make all the difference. Feel free to stay in touch and share what your decision is as well as the process. I'll be delighted to do the same if you like.
