Hello everyone, I am interested in applying to Chamberlain for 2020 at the Pearland campus in Texas. Iv'e been doing research, and some of the bad reviews frighten me... please feel free to comment anything regarding Chamberlain if you are also on the same boat as me, or already a student there.
Im so scared of being declined admission at Chamberlain. My transcript is not the best, but I have a 3.21 GPA and have an AA in Business. I am currently studying for the HESI, as I feel that can save me. ???

I hope this is still somewhat active. I posted my own question before finding this thread. For those enrolled, how are you liking the program so far? I have a group enrollment meeting next week and I'm just curious. I plan to take night/weekend classes since that will fit my schedule better.

Hey girl! I really like the program. Of course, nursing school isn’t easy so I’ve actually taken a break both last semester and this semester to protect my mental health due to stress and I didn’t want to have a mental breakdown or a burn out from nursing in general. I will tell you that the courseload is very rigorous because instead of being 16 week classes, everything is condensed into 8 weeks. You will REALLY have to make sure your on top of your A game. It’s very easy to fall behind with how fast paced the program is. All in all they’re getting us prepared for the NCLEX so remember that everything your learning will be applied one day whether it’s on the NCLEX or when your working in the health care field. Take in as much as you can but not to the point where you’ve reached your breaking point. The only thing I don’t really like is how we don’t get extensive breaks in between each session or for Summer but it’s all in preparation for when we actually start working.

Thank you so much for replying! I've been hesitant due to the reviews I keep seeing, but I wanted to try and reach out to someone in the program to get some insight on their own experience. I'm glad you're enjoying the program and it's good to know that breaks can be taken. I work full time during the week dayshift and I have two kids so I'm trying to prepare myself. Did you need to study for the HESI exam they require for admission?

When I applied for chamberlain last year, the HESI wasn’t required for admission because of COVID and everything being locked down. The only thing they took into account was my passion into purpose statement and my GPA from when I was at HCC. A couple months into my first semester at chamberlain, they suddenly wanted us to take the HESI despite me being told prior that I would not have to worry about it. They had us take it on the computer and we also had to use a program through Google chrome, which was similar to lockdown browser, where we had to have our webcams turned on and we were recorded taking our exam the whole time. It takes about 5 hours on average to finish the exam because there’s so many parts but I finished it fairly quickly. I had studied for the HESI quite a lot before applying to chamberlain because I knew it was a requirement, but I was ecstatic to find out it wasn’t required at the time. I had a classmate from my A&P class at chamberlain that sent me study guides for the HESI so I could refresh some of the info.

Would you happen to still have those study guides? I've been studying for the TEAS for a different program up until this point.
I had my info session yesterday evening and have decided to move forward with Chamberlain. I do have to retake statistics and I have to take Chemistry and ethics as well. It's only three extra classes so I'm not fretting it too much. I could take them at a CC but I don't want to wait anymore. I've been taking classes since 2017, so I'm very much ready to get a move on. My admissions advisor seems to be pretty nice and has been very easy to get in contact with. I'm pretty excited, tho the 8 wk sessions does make me nervous. I've taken 8 wk classes before and did very well, I guess I'm just worried cause it will be so much info in a short period of time.

I just happened to come across this thread. I've been at the pearland campus for over two year and all I can say is run. Literally run as far as you can from this school

Would be willing to elaborate on the issues you are facing? If you don't want to I completely understand. I was able to get in touch with 3 nurses who attended the school (not sure which campuses tho) and they liked it, they are now travel nurses. Do you think the issues you're experiencing are across the board or more campus based?
