Chamberlain College of Nursing

Nursing Students Online Learning

Has anyone done the online RN to BSN through the Chamberlain College of Nursing? The program sounds really great, but I just wanted to get the opinion of someone who's tried it thanks!

I'm stilll struggling with gettng the backbone to pick up the books again for the BSN.

The thought of studying gives me the willies, but I know I have to. Students keep me so busy with their CPNE prep I don't have much peace.

( I remember you sending me care plans to correct daily... do you? he...he...he)

So Chamberlin was a change up from EC?...Change is a good thing and looks better on a application too. And as we both know there are still facilities and states that shy/run away from EC grads. Well my ol' friend nice chatting with you!:)

I just kept on going right after NCLEX -- I didn't want to lose momentum, or take another few-years-off from school! :) You should consider an RN-to-MSN in education, since you are such a fabulous educator!! Skip the BSN, do the MSN. Really!

Im assuming you had all your non-nursing courses done before starting this program. Do you know upto how many years old they take those courses? and do you know if there is a requirement set by chamberlain that you have to have atleast x number of credits taken with them?

No. I had to take College Algebra, Stats, Econ and the Soc class. I had to take 32 credits I believe. Honestly I don't even remember how many I just took the next classes they told I needed. I ended up doing it in 11 months instead of 8 months because for two sessions I only took one class at a time. I was taking two and three classes at a time every 8 weeks before that. It flew by, it was a great program, it was rigorous, I feel I learned so much. So many people feel like the RN-BSN was not worth it, you will not feel that way coming out of Chamberlain. You will understand the role of Bachelors-prepared RN and feel ready to step up in that role.

Hey there!

I have been looking for an RN-BSN program that would be a little quicker to complete than the brick and mortar schools in my area (total would have been like 3.5 years....TOO LONG). So I started to dig around on AN and found some very helpful threads, and posters (Lunah and a few others) and I decided to jump into the Chamberlain program. I should have everything set up to start at the end of August (yeah...just graduated with RN and passed NCLEX), but like miss Lunah above, I am still in study mode, and don't want to quit or take a break!

Thanks everyone for all of your helpful hints (I checked out several other accredited online RN-BSN, but Chamberlain seemed like the best fit for me).

YaY! I am soooo excited to get started, and to think in a little over a year from now, I will have my BSN! :D

Bless you heart Lisa,

Skip the BSN.....Hummmmmmmmmm never really thought about that. I could cut back on Workshops...like to every other month and go back down to 6 students insead of 8. Hummmmmmmmmm Now you've given me something to think about.

And you recommend Chamberlin over EC...?

For me, that was a better fit for my bazillion credits. For you, EC might be perfect. :) There are so many online programs now -- check your state schools to save on tuition, too. You should do it!

Im doing it now

Is Chamberlain considered full-time, part-time, or less-than-part-time? I don't have very many credits to go, and Chamberlain is looking good for me. But I cannot do full-time right now.

It's up to you -- depends on how many classes you take. If you're taking two classes during an 8-week session, I think that's considered half-time.

Is Chamberlain a private school? If private, was it hard finding $$$ for school or are they helpful with that?

Yes, they are private. I was never able to get even a cent of help. I had to take out a loan. 5 years later I have paid off $200 in principle. The rest of my monthly payments have been towards intrest. At this rate I will have it paid off in 30+ years.

There are schools that are less expensive with a good/great reputation for education, that are ORGANIZED and will cause you less stress.

Best of luck to you.
