ASN or BSN?
i think you will save a lot of money by taking the pre-requistes at a community college. usually, there is a lot more pre-requisites for a bsn compared to asn. so i think it'll be smarter that you do all the asn requirements first and apply for asn programs and if you dont get into a program, take the bsn requirements and once you are done with those, you can apply to both asn and bsn programs. you can always transfer your credits from community college to universities. hope this helps!!

need advice.
If you want to become a nurse for now but your ultimate goal is to become a pediatrician, I think itll be better if you go to a community college and do your RN. Working as an RN at a peds floor can broaden your experience, which would look great on your resume ( i would think). However, I would not recommend taking pre-requisites for both medical and nursing at the same time because it will be too much of a work load on you. Also, you have to understand that this is a long term goal for you because it takes about 3 yrs to get your RN and more years to get your MD. ALso think of it this way, if you decide that you dont want to become a pediatrician later, you would have a great job at hand. I also recommend that while you take your pre-requisites(general ed) classes, volunteer at a local hospital. Hope this helps!!

Nursing School Orientation
They would give you an overview of the semester and what to expect. they would also hand out your syllabus and names of books you should buy if they havent told you that yet. The instructors would introduce themselves and there might be couple of students who is ahead of you to give their opinion of what study techniques worked for them and there might even be a presenation by sna. hope this helps:)

Nursing student NCLEX study materials
I think saudnder's review might be a good start for you because it breaks the material into cv, renal, peds, psych, etc. so it wil be a good review for your tests. Also with each section it has review material in addition to NCLEX questions as well.

Any advice for Peds and Psyc Nursing ?
I thought Peds was very similar to medsurg and I studied in the same way for it as I did for medsurg. But psych was different. The class lectures were not helpful for me. So I did rely on ATI book for it. That book really breaks down the info. very well. The psych ATI's primary resource was the book we used in class, so it worked out for me very well. Hope this helps.

Can I take the NCLEX late? Like two or three years after I've graduated with my BSN?
Im not sure what your reasons are for delaying to take the NCLEX but I would think the earlier the better. Also think about it in this way, you spend years on nursing with the actual schooling and pre-courses, why waste all that time and take a risk if you dont have to.

Chamberlain College of Nursing
Im assuming you had all your non-nursing courses done before starting this program. Do you know upto how many years old they take those courses? and do you know if there is a requirement set by chamberlain that you have to have atleast x number of credits taken with them?
