Hey Ready to Help,

did you take the Teas before being accepted in the program or after ? I am thinking about applying for the Spring Semester- March cohort but i heard that by then the Hesi A2 will be required instead of the Teas. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Also, will you be working while attending school ? It must be pretty exciting to begin your nursing journey soon:wink2:

I actually never took the Teas and honestly have no idea what the Hesi is. They haven't mentioned anything about them either, so I'm assuming that it's not something that I have to take. I did come in with another degree so I don't know if that matters or not.

I actually probably won't work if I don't have to. I have two children at home so I'd like to be able to see them at some point. They do get opportunities that they are happy to share with you for positions (probably aides) if you do need to work. The plan is doing all loans and then after graduation paying them off in 2-3 years.

I am really excited! I ready for the nerves to kick in, but right now it's just excitement. Let me know if you decide to apply. I'll be doing my first clinicals in March. I have some classes that I'm taking this semester that other colleges didn't require (Logic, College Algebra) and then two others, one that they require (college beginners...yes even though I've already gotten a degree).

Good Luck to you!

Hi Ready2Help,

I spoke with admissions counselor and she did say that the Teas was required and in March that will change to the Hesi A2. It would be great if i didn't have to take the exam :D I also have 3 degrees. I did notice on their curriculum also that there are a few extra classes needed that other schools don't require like Economics etc. I'll be applying very soon. I thought about the October cohort but i'm currently out of state and it would not be enough time to plan a move especially with my two young children. I think this program will gain lots of popularity in the coming months even though it's a bit expensive. Good luck in the program, i'll let you know if i get in. I'll be applying to this one as well as Touro in Las Vegas but i think i'm leaning more twards Chamberlain since i do love AZ.

I didn't have to take the TEAS either. All I had to do was the essay exam.

Thanks for that info AZnursingstudent. That's great news. I think i may visit the campus sometime soon. I'll let you know if they tell me otherwise about the test. Good luck in the program.

Hi AZnursingstudent,

I was curious, how was the essay exam ? Was it just the usual 'why do i want to be a nurse' type of essay or something else more complicated? Just curious.

I am curious about this school also. So they do take community college credits right? Beacuse I will not pay for all those classes again. Also what was the final cost of the program for those of you that got excepted?

I'm still waiting to hear if i get in or not (won't be untill later this year) but i took the essay exam recently and it was relatively easy. One hour to answer one question. I haven't received an evaluation from my previous classes as yet but i was told we could transfer in college work which may decrease the amount of time left to get the BSN. Which semester are you interested in ? They are finalizing applications for the October cohort now and the next session will be March 09. Good luck to you:) A couple of students on this particular forum are starting the October cohort, maybe they can share some information with you.

I am interested in the 09 start date. I have all my pre-reqs done to get into the community colleges but they are telling me a 3-4 semester wait and I would rather start earlier and get my BSN. Hopefully somebody that got in will chime in and help us out. If they will not take my credits I guess I will have to wait. Thanks for the quick response!

You should send in your application. I sent in unofficial transcripts with my application and they said they were fine. The application fee is $60.00. I don't want to do the 4 semester wait either, it just seems way to long. You could always give them a call to answer basic questions. They are really friendly. I don't think you'll have a problem with transfering your credits either. I'm waiting to see how many of mine they'll take too. Let me know if you apply. Maybe we will be in same class :)

I will get my stuff together and send it over in the mean time I will call them to ask a few questions. Keep us posted on the credit and cost thing.

I went there and talk to the advisor. They will take your credits from other college. Their BSN program is 3 years. It would take me 2 because I am done with most of my pre-reqs. You will need to have some communications and economics classes as well. They have 3 semesters per year and each of them costs more then $6000. That was a major disadvantage for me. Basically, you will have to pay about $20.000 for a year. Program is full time, during the day and I think M-F.

Thanks for the reply! I think that is a crazy amount of money to pay I guess I will wait my 3 semesters to get in at MCC or Chandler-Gilbert. Thanks for the help!
