As far as the money goes, it's all in the way you look at it. I figure I'll make enough to pay off my loans in 3-4 years...to me it's worth it rather than waiting another year/year and a half.

I also only did the essay...one hour, one question.

They took all of my credits except philosophy. They require a Logic class...and economics.

Anyone else starting in October?

Hi! The essay was really easy. I am thinking about starting the March of 2009 program. I want to get some classes done at the community college before I start at Chamberlain to save some money. :wink2: But I also plan on applying to the community colleges and GCU.

Did anyone applying to Chamberlain need to take the on-campus placement tests ? Are these Math and Science tests ?

I didn't have to take any placement tests for Chamberlain. I'm assuming you'd have to take them if you haven't had any other English or Math classes. I had to take one at a community college in TX about two years ago and it placed me in intermediate algebra...which is all I needed for the nursing program at the cc, but here they require College Algebra. I'm pretty sure if you've taken the english and math classes and have passing grades you shouldn't have to take the placement tests...that's mainly just to see what level you should be at.

Hi Ready2Help,

The advisor had mentioned to me via e-mail that my next step after the essay exam was on campus placement. They had not evaluated my credits yet though because i do have a few English and Math classes already.

How is the area where the school is located ? If i get in ( Keeping my fingers crossed) I will be moving with my family next spring. I've heard horror stories about schools in Phoenix. I would rather move to Chandler or even Avondale but i think that would be too far a commute to Chamberlain. Do you know of any good elementary public /Charter schools or Apartment complexes in the area ?

I'm reposting to see if anyone can provide me with some info.

I'm interested in attending Chamberlain school of nursing in Phoenix. If i get accepted, my family and i will be moving soon. I've heard horror stories about schools in Phoenix. I would rather move to Chandler, Mesa or even Avondale but i think that would be too far a commute to Chamberlain right ? Does anyone know of any good elementary public or preferably Charter schools in the area or within minutes of the area. My sons will be 4(almost 5) and 6 when i move from Nv. I've tried great schools.com but have received contradicting data. Please, any info will be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I am born and raised in AZ but always lived on the Eastside of town, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert. I am not to familar with schools around Phoenix so I can't help in that aspect of things. I can tell you a drive from Mesa or North Chandler would be about the same distance to the school from Avondale maybe even alittle closer. The community around the school is not that great and over the years it has gotten worse. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply,

I heard schools in mesa and Chandler are pretty good. I am worried that with traffic it would take forever to drive to Phoenix and back from Mesa though. What would you say is the average driving time with or without traffic from Mesa to North Phoenix. 40 minutes ?

I would say with traffic about an 1hr maybe alittle more.

Hi. I actually live in Surprise which is on the far west side. I don't know much about the south-east side unfortunately. My commute is about 35 minutes. My son is attending a small charter school in El Mirage. We love the area out here but there are only two streets that come out of Surprise straight to the freeway and one of them is a nightmare.

I do have some friends that live in the "central corridor" and they love it. They are older homes, but most have a lot of charm. I actually wish that when we'd moved here 10 months ago that we'd looked in that area (would be right around the corner from the school).

Good luck on your move and maybe I'll see you around school. I start there on Monday!!

Thanks for the info Ready2help,

I've been doing quite a bit of research online regarding the area. I actually found a public school for my sons on 'great schools.net' that i'm considering. It's 12 minutes away from Chamberlain and has an excelling rating, so i guess it's something i need to consider. Yes, i don't want to live too far from school with the way gas prices are especially since my family will be on one income (my husband's) for a little while. Anyway, good luck on Monday. I'm think i'm leaning more towards July enrollment now since my son needs to finish Kindergarten before we move.

Hi Ready2help,

I wanted to send you a PM but i see you only have 9 posts thus far. I'm curious as to how Chamberlain has been for you so far ? Are you currently taking nursing classes ? Please share your experience with us. Is it organized, are classes large, how are the professors ? Thanks :nuke:
