Chamberlain College of Nursing BSN Program

Published

Hello!! I just joined this site today because I was recently accepted into Chamberlain College of Nursing, I am scheduled to begin classes on March 1st and I was wondering if anyone else is going to Chamberlain and also if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about this school. I am very excited to start and I think that the most appealing thing about this school is that there isn't a wait list... I applied in August, was accepted in October and I am beginning in March. It is quite expensive but I think (or at least hope) that it is worth it. Also instead of doing the ADN, I have decided to do the BSN, any comments?? Advice?

Hey guys, i'll b attending hondros school of nursing, and after my Rn, transferring over to chamberlain to get my bsn. I have only 12 credits from my previous institution before going to hondros, its almost as if im going straight out of high school. So if i want to get into the rn to bsn program at chamberlain, would there be any additional requirement? i mean i'll have my ADN from hondros when im done.

My ultimate goal is to go for crna, do you guys know of anyone that has graduated from chamberlain and got into a crna program?

thank you!!

Just wanted to let you all know that I got an acceptance email, apparently on Friday. I just found it in my spam folder... so you might want to check that!

Congratulations! Which block would you be starting in?

Thanks for the heads up, I just checked mine and found that my adviser's emails have been going there instead of my inbox! Come to find out they need a couple other transcripts, even though I was told last month that everything has been received. I will be contacting my advisor tomorrow morning, but I hope this doesnt impede on my chances. Hopefully this doesnt cause me to have to wait until August for a decision! Again, thanks for the info and congrats!

I will be starting in October, but I am not sure yet which block. I think I will be starting in the third block b/c I already have most of the classes for 1 and 2 done.

I live in Michigan right now, so I will be moving the fam down there in the next few months (I know, I picked a great season for moving!)

do chamberlain credits transfer to another university to move on to grad school? has anyone ever gotten into a crna program with it?

i don't know the exact answer as i am just going to be starting this october. however, i did do a little research on crna programs before applying the chamberlain and one in glendale (midwestern university) said this about their prereqs...

"

to be considered for admission to the nurse anesthesia program at midwestern university, a student must submit the following documented evidence:

  1. minimum cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. cumulative gpa of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is recommended to remain competitive. cumulative gpa's are calculated from the applicant's last 150 credits completed by applicants.
  2. minimum science gpa of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. science gpa of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is recommended to remain competitive. courses included in the calculation of the science gpa include anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, chemistry, and physics.
  3. completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing or other appropriate degree, granted by regionally accredited u.s. colleges or universities prior to the application deadline of june 1.
  4. satisfactory completion (grades of c or better) of all prerequisite coursework prior to the application deadline of june 1 (grades of c- are not acceptable).
  5. licensure to practice as a registered nurse in at least one legal jurisdiction in the united states or its territories.
  6. minimum of one year of critical care registered nursing experience prior to the application deadline of june 1.
  7. demonstration of sincere understanding of and interest in nurse anesthesia.
  8. oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with faculty, patients, and colleagues. "

so since chamberlain is accredited (well it is conditionally right now b/c the first class is getting ready to graduate, but the other campuses are all accredited, so i am pretty sure they will be too), i would assume the school would accept the bsn from there.

Appreciate the help :) i'll def. look into it

Hi everyone I was a bit confused when they said that they need a minimum score of 75 on the hesi a2. I was bummed that I only got a 77 but my advisor stated that I was in good shape because they required a minimum of 75 on the reading comprehension and math (which I recieved an average of 86.43). So apparently she said stated that they primarily look at the reading comprehension and math part and look at science incase of a tiebreaker. Can someone clarify for me

That is what they told me too. After the test I met with my advisor to go over the results and she showed me my overall average and the score for each section and then the score for just the reading/math/grammar/and something else (I can't remember) and said that is what they go off. They figure that some people haven't taken A&P, Chem, etc. b/c they include that in the program. So you should go with the 86%, that is what they will probably use.

Were you in the group that was reviewed last week? I was and got an email on Friday that I was accepted. I didn't get it until today b/c it was in my spam box (someone else had that issue too). So check your spam box!!! Good Luck!

how do you feel about the following option: if i were to get my adn from hondros and went on to get my bsn from indiana wesleyan? they seem better than chamberlain, no offense to anyone that is going to chamberlain, i just want the best option for me. Your thoughts?

If anyone has thoughts on hondros to indiana wesleyan, or just indiana wesleyan please let me know.

I'm actually turning my application this upcoming meeting!! :) I'm afraid that score is not enough so I'm deciding to retake it and hopefully score higher!! If you don't mind me asking how was your hesi score comparing to mine? I thinking I'm just stressing myself out!!! :)
