Chamberlain College of Nursing BSN Program

Hello!! I just joined this site today because I was recently accepted into Chamberlain College of Nursing, I am scheduled to begin classes on March 1st and I was wondering if anyone else is going to Chamberlain and also if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about this school. I am very excited to start and I think that the most appealing thing about this school is that there isn't a wait list... I applied in August, was accepted in October and I am beginning in March. It is quite expensive but I think (or at least hope) that it is worth it. Also instead of doing the ADN, I have decided to do the BSN, any comments?? Advice?

Hello, I'm also starting at Chamberlin in March. It is pretty expensive but I too am hoping its worth it. What campus are you attending? I have heard mixed reviews about the school but I honestly think that your success is up to you. Best of luck! I will be attending the Addison campus.

I'm an currently attending at the Phoenix campus. As with every school there are the positive and negative things. It really is all about how you look at things and your attitude. My specific cohort isn't as negative as the one behind us which I am grateful for.

The Phoenix campus is still working out kinks because they are only a year old but there are things that definitely could be done better. Do I think I'm getting what I need out of it...yes, only because I'm working my butt off! Is it worth the money? To me it is because I'd already waited 1 1/2 years to get in to a school! I really believe that your attitude will make or break you! Keep a positive attitude, get your work done and find a few people in your class that aren't back-biting and negative and you will do just fine! Good Luck!!

Hello. First, congratulations. I have posted a bunch of information on Chamberlain as I have been attending for two semesters now. I am presently in the second year now. If you click on my user name and check under posts I have written, you can read all the stuff I had to say. Ask me anything and I'll be happy to help you.

THe one things I don't think I have mentioned before is that Chamberlain is a little disorganized at the moment. I love the college, but since it's so new, they are still trying to work out all the "kinks" per se. With most colleges and Universities, there are always both positives and negatives. This is one of Chamberlain's negatives. It's tough, though! So, be prepared to do tons of reading and studying. It's an accelerated program....

Which semester are you newbies starting in? :)

I will also be starting Chamberlain RN-BSN fast track online- in March. I have read alot of horror stories online about this school so I'm nervous- but I pray that everything works out. Anyone else doing the BSN fast track online as well? Thanks

I am looking at starting in March as well. I only have 9 classes to take to graduate. What are your thoughts on Chamberlain? I have heard it is writing intensive but do you know how difficult they grade the papers? I am not a great writer but I want my BSN. I dont line the cost of the program but I like that I can have it done quick.

Has anyone done the Econ Class? I am a little apprehensive about this as well.

Last question, if I sign the enrollment agreement I am not tied in to finish the program, right? I am always hesitant when people want things signed and returned so quickly!!

Any thoughts?

In regards to the papers/essays, each instructor grades differently, so that all depends on whom you get. I am in the fourth semester, so far, no papers needed. It's the beginning that you have a bunch to write, including the NR222 course.

I would read the enrollment agreement. You are not entitled to completing school, but you will not get your enrollment fee refunded. Also, if you enroll, start classes, and then drop out later... You are obligated to pay back any student loans you have taken out, regardless of whether or not you have finished the program.

My advice to pre-nursing students is that if you are not 100% devoted, committed, motivated, and ready to have your world formed around school.... Then I do not recommend nursing school. It is difficult and there is no easy way around it, through it, or anything... except to just strap on your boots and stomp through it like everyone else!

I wish you luck when you start in March! It's awesome education, though!

No, I agree. I am just trying to make sure that I can devote enough time to the program. I have a BS and I just got an AAS and am an RN so I am used to hard work. I am not used to working full time and getting my school work done though so I want to make sure that I have time for my family and work.

Thanks for the input!! I appreciate it!

Hello,

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted into the program! I am also starting the online RN-BSN fast track program the first of March. My biggest concern is if other schools will consider accepting me for a nurse practioner program with this degree. Does anyone have any experience or know anyone who has persued this with success?

Well this school has only been open for a year or year and a half. We can't keep a dean. And I'm in the negative cohort. I think the positive people need to stick out, and this person is right, it's your attitude. Many people complain that it's too far. I think that's where all the negativity comes from. That and people not getting their way. You get this kind of thing anywhere. The campus is small though considering they just brought on another college, making that 4 colleges in one little campus. Over all most of the teachers are great and encouraging :) good luck and congrats

I will be attending the Phoenix Campus and even in my limited interation with this school I have also notice that they are a little disorganized. The fact that most of the people there are really nice and helpful makes up for it I think. My admissions advisor was EXTREMELY nice and is a model of the customer service profession and the same goes for my financial advisor. I think that the front desk staff could get some better people skills and same for the clinical coordinator. None of them have been necesarily mean or rude but do come off a little bit smug, which is irritating because of the amount of money that we are forking out. But alltogether it has been a pleasent exprerience. Is anyone else going to the Phoenix Campus??

Clinical coordinator is smug. That's just her, she's rude. Front desk people they can't keep. Some have quit and the financial aid people who make up our schedules are not too bright. You have to advocate for yourself they don't bother to figure out what credits will transfer they would be happy just charging you for classes you already have. Your Nursing Assessment teacher is the best you will have so enjoy her while you can, Pharm and OB teacher is also good. Adult Health teacher is not willing to work with students, do study groups or anything to help the students. I'm sure all schools have similar complaints. Unfortunately we the new students are the guinea pigs. Good luck with school :)
