Please advise:
our hospital DON has announced that she wants us to change from our everyday scrubs to wearing matching scrubs (that also match our new bedspreads for our brand new unit opening in April). She thinks that we should be grateful for our multimillion dollar unit and purchase scrubs. I am angry that 1. We are being "forced"to decide between colors we don't like
2. we have to purchase these scrubs we don't like from a company they got "cheaper rates" for us (and for good reason...they are cheap/too thin) 3. We have to match bedspreads for crying out loud!! Also....no other unit has to match, I have frequently seen nurses/staff wearing clothing that hardly qualifies as scrubs....PJ's etc.
Does anyone have input/advice....thanks for your help :angryfire
Our hospital is just starting to talk about doing the all nurses wear one color, all CNA's wear another, etc. thing. We've been told that for it to work, it has to be approved by the nurse's union, or it won't fly. Basically if they require staff to wear something specific, they have to either provide and launder it, or they have to give an allowance for us to buy it.
I really think that if hospitals are going to require certain colors, they should at least choose colors that everyone will be comfortable in. No pink or pastels especially! Navy or royal or green... something neutral.
Matching the bedspreads is a little weird. Did I miss it, or did we find out what color the bedspreads actually are? Are we talking like plaid or paisley here?

If this is your biggest problem you're lucky...want cheese with your whine?
who said it was the "biggest problem"? Why do you and others assume that? It's just one that apparently concerns them. I think it's legitimate myself.by the way, love your nick. I take it you are a house supervisor?
Yeah, it amazes me all the people that are willing to pass judgement on what constitutes a worthy problem.

In the UK our uniforms are supplied by the hospital so we don't get too much of an option but I do know that the times I was working and they wanted to bring in new uniforms a selection was made and a few selected people could try them on whilst working to see how they wore and the practicality of them. then was put to vote and once recieving the most votes was what we was measured up for and we had a option for dresses or tunic and trousers.
I do believe that if the hospital wants you to wear a certain uniform then they should pay and provide it.
