Chairty fall 06 applicant--anyone else??

I applied for charity for fall 2006. Since the hurricane I know everything is messed up, but I hope I can still have a chance at getting in for this coming fall. I called charity today and they said that they have to make a decision by January 23. So I just have to wait a few more weeks to see if I get in. I have been back and forth to charity since I returned home from atlanta. They lost my application and pax scores. I had to go fill another app out and bring a copy of my pax scores. Anyone one else hoping to get in fall 2006???

:nurse: I received my letter and I must complete the process. Their pushing us to turn in accept/reject-the students from Jan has the option of beginning in April or Aug. The good thing about this for the both of you-the April's class is empty:) ! The students are refusing the April's class because they've heard that it is extremely accelerated.

Now, I'm required to meet all these different guidelines-fingerprints, background check, nursing board authorization, etc

:uhoh3: Don't worry. I figure no news is always good news. Another thing there doing advising this week and someone said that they'll be late registration for students accepted in mid Feb.

Continue calling, emailing, and making visits up there it'll pay off! I'm soooooooo :sofahider  tired-I'm taking micro/ap 2 lec online! Well good luck and keep me posted.

Well your news is encouraging! I hope that is true. I am figuring that is why they are waiting to send out the letters in febuary, because they are waiting to see who is coming for April and August. When I called last week, the secretary said that my file was reviewd and I will hear something by the end of Feburary. Then I said is that for Fall and she said yes. So maybe they just are saying fall unless something for april opens up? I hope there would be an opening in April. Well thanks for the Info!! I will just be waiting to hear something now!:p

I too have applied for the fall '06 class. I have all my pre-requisites out of the way, including both A&P lectures and labs. However, I have not yet taken the PAX-RN. I am registered to take it in mid-march. The girl down at the Claiborne building seemed to indicate that I could still be admitted in the fall class, as long as I make the grade in the exam, and as long as there are openings. Anyone know how many applicants there are? Or how many are admitted?

I'm not sure of the number admitted. But I would not always go by what you hear from the girl working at the front desk. According to what I was told alot of people who could start in April are chosing to start in August. Which means that others may not get in until next spring. I Applied last August took the pax. I just got reviewed a few weeks ago. Like said early in this tread I wont find out until toward the end of Feb. I guess it all depends on how many are starting in April and then they will decided August. I just got my CPR certification too today. Goodluck!

O yeah...one of the many times I was up at charity I overheard that To be considered for atleast next spring your application should be in like NOW and you should have taken the pax in January to have a chance to be considered. That is what Ms. Galvin told someone waiting in front on me. Now I am sure now because who know what the result will be of admission of the Applicants who had their applications in on time before Katrina. Your best bet would be to talk to Ms. Galvin to get your information.

Has anyone recieved their exceptance letter yet? I am also waiting and they told me the same thing when i call, they were reviewing my application and i would recieve my letter at the end of Febuary. I just wish we would receive a letter even if we are not excepted, at least we would know and not have to keep waiting. Well good luck to all of you.;)

well that sux. i called the office just now and was told that i will not be considered for the fall 06 class since i have not yet taken the pax, which i am taking in march, and my application will not go before the committee without the pax score; the earliest i could possibly be considered is next spring. arrrggghhh! :(

I called yesterday. I was told again they will be sent out by the end of feb.!! so I guess we all have to keep waiting. I am hoping they mail them out by next week.

Cmunst, where did you complete your cpr certification at? How much was it & how long did it take you? Do you have any other news on the other things that are needed -suh as finger print/background check? I heard that you could get this done at the Metairie Road police station area (that is right off of Cleary/Airline- across from the CVS pharmacy)... Is this something that we can go ahead and get done by walking in - or do we need some type of paperwork?

Thanks for the info...

hi Nolanurse,

I called charity today, letters will be mailed on the 23rd (thursday). So maybe by the weekend we will know something. I took my CPR class at West Jeff hospital. I took it there because East Jeff told me they did not offer one. It was $50. It only took one day. It was suppose to be from 8-5, but my class did not want to take breaks so we finished at 12:30. You have to call West Jeff EMS. That is where the class is held. I would think that there was somewhere out here in metairie that you could take it, but I did not know anywhere. I really do not know about anything else we need to do, besides shots. If you find out anything else we need let me know.

Specializes in PP, OR, med-surg,oncology, urodynamics.

waiting is always the hardest part, hang in there guys and girls. Good luck and lots of love to all of you, I'm from the class of May 2005. Unfortunately, I'm displaced as a result of hurricane Katrina, but I'll be home soon as possible.:kiss

does anyone know if you receive a letter from charity even if you do not get excepted?

Letters were supposably mailed out yesterday! I did not get anything today, maybe tomorow!! Let me know if anyone gets their letter!
