  1. It's totally irrelevant if one thinks RN's are needed in the OR. AORN standards specify otherwise. I worked in the OR, at a Level I Trauma Center for many years. I've also worked Med-Surg\Oncology, long term care facility, and now I work in Urology as the Procedure Nurse. Urodynamics, cystograms, cystoscopies, RUG'S, BCG tx, assist with vasectomies, and a few other procedures that my role as a OR nurse prepared me for. I personally respect ALL areas of nursing and realize it's diverse. I still get daily calls, and emails for OR positions (very high demand)! Nursing skills are definitely needed in the OR, this I know. Thanks

Ok, i realize alot of scrub techs go back to school to become rn's in the or, but how many of you ever thought about going back to school to become a crna?
  6. I say this about everyone, RN's, LPN's, EMT's, CNA's, Scrub Tech's,Dialysis Tech's,and yes even Doctors, we are all needed, we're suppose to have one common goal, when we learn to RESPECT eachother's position things will go alot smoother!
  7. Thank you so much for this post!!! From one circulator to another, it's appreciated!!
  8. ALWAYS LOVE FOR ALL CHARITY GRADS! PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE! HATS OFF TO CLASS OF DEC. O8!!!!!! :heartbeat:redbeathe:heartbeat:redbeathe:yeah::yeah::yeah:
  9. I've worked at both. The state has wonderful benefits, and if you go to their website, you can view the information for loan repayment, it's not automatic, but it is an option. Honestly, I think a teaching facility is a great place for a new nurse to start. Good luck with your decision. :redbeathe
  10. Honestly it was hard for me. As mentioned in a previous post, you must be self motivated and FOCUS. The only thing I can compare to nursing school, is my experience in basic training. However, I am a mother of seven kids:16,15,13,12,11,4,and 2 years old. (Class of May 05). If I can do it, so can you. Good Luck!
  11. You and your son are in my prayers. God bless.
  12. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD AN OPINION IS LIKE AN A**HOLE, EVERYONE HAS ONE. HOWEVER, WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO BEING DISRESPECTED, OR JUST PLAN IGNORANT. IT WOULD BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THAT INDIVIDUAL TO KEEP THEIR IGNORANT COMMENTS TO THEMSELVES. ONE NEVER KNOWS WHO THEY ARE TALKING TO, AND WHAT CAN COME FROM THOSE UGLY REMARKS. LORD HELP US ALL!
  13. very well said, a veeerrrrrrry true! Thanks to all cna's
  14. Well, I know alot of things have changed since the hurricane, but I graduated from CSN May 05, and I do know that MOSTof the staff is understanding, even in the admission office. If you are really worried, I would attached a letter explaining your previous situation that led you to stop attending school and resulted in you receiving F's. You would be amazed at how far a little communication will go. I remember when I applied, some one told me, if I had not completed my Hep B, that I would not be considered. Well, I wrote a letter and explained my circumstances, and well I got a phone call not a letter, cause I was the last student accepted that semester, at the last minute. I just want you to truley know ANY thing is possible when you're persistent. Good Luck!
  15.  WOULD IT MATTER IF THEY HAD ANOTHER TYPE OF INSURANCE? DO YOU THINK THE TYPE OF INS YOU HAVE TELLS WHAT TYPE OF PERSON/PATIENT YOU ARE? WOW
