Guys, I'm very anxious about this year's lottery. I can't wait any longer.
My question is this: I do not live in the service area, but do I still have a fair chance like everyone else or does being in their area get the upper hand? Also, I checked my status on their class web and it says that my major is nursing. Does that mean anything too or is everyones major nursing?
Anyone else applied?
Hi all, I received my acceptance letter to Chabot yesterday, and seeing as it is 4AM now (West Coast time), I haven't been able to sleep easy. I currently live out-of-district and got placed as number 7 alternate for the Extended Campus at ValleyCare Education Center in Livermore.
I'm super anxious to find out whether I am officially accepted or not, I'm just hoping 7 people decline their position to go elsewhere! *crossing fingers*
I'm currently at CSUEB as a Health Science major, and if all goes well, this will be my first and last quarter at CSUEB if I do indeed get accepted into the Chabot program officially. I figure that I can always go to back to CSUEB (since I only had one quarter there) after the Chabot nursing program after 2 years to do the bridge or finish my Health Science degree.
Does anyone know the chances of alternates getting into the program? Reading from other forums from last year, some girl mentioned that she heard they accept up to the 15 of the alternates, but I'm sure it varies every year. Any piece of mind so I can get some sleep?
Thanks! And good luck to you all!!

I think you have a VERY VERY good chance, number 7, you will get their call sooner than you think. the reason I am saying that is because they are asking the selectees and the alternates to take the TEAS in just 2 weeks, for those who are not well prepared, it will not be pleasing! I know that Ohlone college has called 10 people from their wait list in a matter of just 2 weeks, after they take the TEAS, many alternates get the call they were waiting for! I would start preparing for the TEAS as hard as I could if I were you! Good luck:)

Thank you so much dreamnurse511! I'm really hoping I get in! :) I already took my TEAS test March of last year, I just need to order it to send it over to the school :) I didn't do absolutely well on it, but I did enough to pass the 67% mark they want. Thanks again!
Hi,
So I found this blog site, by Goggle and I too am waiting to find out the results from Chabot. So how do we know if we weren't qualified or we simply did not get picked from the pool?
Has anyone hear of them making errors and telling people they weren't qualified and really they are? What can you do about that?

This isn't the first time I've heard of this error: one of my pre-req buddies, that is also at CSUEB with me currently, received a letter from Chabot saying something was wrong with her transcripts/they didn't receive all her transcripts which disqualified her from the drawing. It's funny though, because she only has attended Las Positas College, which is affiliated and sister schools with Chabot, in which we didn't need to turn in transcripts with our application since our transcripts are one in the same with Chabot transcripts.
These clerical errors are unfortunately something we have no control over, but we can let the Admissions Nursing office know about to avoid the same issues to come up again for next years selection, criterion scoring and drawing. :/
As far as finding out results, I received my letter 2 days ago on the 25th and opened it yesterday morning, so the letters should be circulating and you should be receiving a letter with the next week.
Good luck!
