CGFNS - CVS for NYS help please

Hi nurses, I'm a new member here and I've been reading alot with regards to CGFNS' CVS. I know it's a pretty popular topic and that's why I'm having a hard time finding the answer I've been looking for. I have tried contacting CGFNS via phone but I can't seem to connect to their line because it says that all lines are busy as of the moment. I just wanted to ask if I'm currently on the right track with regards to my application for this service. I've had my nursing education outside the US so that's how I know I'm supposed to undergo this processing so as to acquire an RN license for NY.

What I've done so far is I have applied online on the CGFNS' site (http://www.cgfns.org) and have been filling out the required fields on every page of the online registration. Then I placed an order for CGFNS' CVS for NYS for which I paid for via credit card. I remember doing this around mid-December of last yr (2010) and I'm just worried that I have overlooked something that would entail a delay in my processing. Or worse, that I haven't fully completed my application and documents are lacking. Please help me because I am so confused right now with regards to this application and what else i should do. The thing that mose confuses me right now is what is the signed notarized application? Along with the transcript validation and authorization form? Where can I get ahold of those documents? Am I the one supposed to fill out and submit them to CGFNS?

The best two places for your post would be:

1. The International Nurses forum under the Region tab at the top of the page

2. Maybe the New York forum also under the same tab

Moved to the International forum

CGFNS service CVS requires CGFNS to do all the running after your documentation. This usually means it can take up to 6 months and then CGFNS transfers everything they have received to NY BON who once you have submitted an application to them decides on whether you meet requirements or not

I just happened to be able to get through the busy lines of CGFNS via phone, and had to bug the woman I was talking to about my application, what I learned of was to download the handbook and have it printed, and then fill out the 2008 Authorization for Academic Records (Transcript) and the 2008 Application which needs to be signed and authorized.

And that's what I've done up 'till now. I have just downloaded the Handbook for CVS for NYS and had printed it, will fill up the form and mail it to them. Should that do it? Will I be then waiting for their response now? Will it help if I contact my college for the documents that may have been mailed to them? Thanks again and Godbless. :)

You can contact the school and ask them to keep an eye out for your stuff from CGFNS but CGFNS will only accept their paperwork back. So no good asking your school to send in transcripts yet. Be prepared that it may take a few months before your school hears anything

Hi akosiemong. I also applied for CVS last december 2010 and until now I'm still waiting for my school to receive the request for transcript. May I know your current status? Thanka a lot ^^

I applied for CVS via internet... last Dec 2010..

I signed and sent the authorization to CGFNS..

the status i have says " READY FOR PROCESSING"

CGFNS will only accept stuff if they have asked for it and is returned on the paperwork they sent, may be worth talking to them,well trying to talk to them, and ask them to resend for it

i'm currently staying here at nj, usa

and i asked my aunt to check if the request were sent to my school

back in the philippines

and they didn't received it yet...

and i also want to know where can i follow up

the request for the license verification..

should i send an application or request of release to my college

or just wait til cgfns sends the request to my school...
