CGFNS-CVS for NY State:missing documents

Hi PresC... Hmm... I think I should talk to my lawyer again regarding the child abuse course. Regarding NCLEX, it would be nice if we have the same date in taking the exam... Where are you going to take it? Saipan or Guam? let's keep in touch ok? :)

i took the child abuse course because i was required by my agent to complete that exam. can't give you correct info why your agency didn't require you to take one. for sure, suzanne4 can help us with this matter.
regarding nclex, probably will have same month in taking the exam. i recently passed my application nurse form 1 in albany, attached there's my child abuse cert and the payment.
truly, allnurses' a big help and such a great place to stay.:)

The child abuse course, as well as the infection control clurse can both be done on-line, for about $15 US each. Definitely do not skip the child abuse course, it will bite you on the butt later.

the website's www.nysna.com~ you need to sign up first, then you'll click online course. you'll see the remaining instructions and you'll need to pay $20 via card either Visa, Master Card and i forgot the other one.

my agency didn't require me as of now to take online course about infection control, only child abuse course.

i'm choosing between hongkong/saipan. as of now i inquired from some travel agencies and the expenses averaging to $400+$500/each. but prices are still subject to change.

how's your review? what materials/cd are you using? are you attending review class?

There is a waiver available but I do not recommend it at all. Depending on where you will be working, you can limit yourself quite a bit. If you get a 16 year old patient in, you are required to have the course to care for them, etc. It doesn't just pertain to toddlers. NY actually requires the two classes for licensure, and I suggest that you do both of them. They require them for a reason.

You can actually find programs from the NY website. Just look at the list for on-line websites.

Hi Suzanne4. Thanks for the info. I asked the agency about it and was told that they we're going to ask me to take it before deployment. I'm thinking that maybe I should be taking it now and get it over with. Might as well do something while waiting for the retrogression. I'm just wondering if the certificate has a validity period or something.

Hi PresC. I had my review class with URC. Am planning to go back and sit in one of these days. I also enrolled online with NCSBN for 3 weeks. I have the Mosby book and CD. :uhoh3: Honestly, I don't know if I'm that ready to take the exam. :banghead:

i got tips/infos from my classmates at kaplan who already took/passed nclex late dec,'04 and this jan,05~

here's some tips:

- mostly centered on nursing prioritization, around 50-60% of questions (which should the nurse attend first)

- also with 10 innivative questions (he suggested to study "lippincott practice 250 new format questions book" or any other book that offers innovative sets

- drug computation

- herbal medicine (st. john's wort/kava kava)

he also shared that springhousee 3000, sandra smith's cd reviewer bears the closest semblance to the NCLEX. also saunder's

and heres more tips:

-priority s/sx to report

guillain barre

pheochromocytoma

m.s.

post delivery

emphysema

asthma

croup

parkinson's

-triaging at E.R. (priority)

-delegation & patient assignment of a pull out nurse

- priority drug s/e; aminophylline, EVISTA

-health teachings on diet (coumadin)

-proper use of equipments: ventilator, intemittent pneumatic device, chest tube

as of now, i'm reviewing with springhouse/saunder's cd.

I already ansered your other post. With New York, you cannot request the documents yourself but have to wait for CGFNS to do it. Read my other answer. :)

You cannot give any form to your school for them to fill out for you. For NY, it must be sent by CGFNS, and that is the only way that CGFNS can accept the material. This is required by NY.

If you are not going to work in NY specifically, then you should proceed with another state, or you could be waiting longer.

in that case how can i convince cgfns.org to send anothere transcript of validation form to my school, since they already sent the 3rd/last letter?do i have to call or email them??? thnks for the info suzanne4:))
