CEUs as part of total compensation package... Looking for input!

Hi all,

I'm looking for information about how CEUs have been included in total compensation packages. We all know that they are necessary to maintain our respective certifications. I'd like to hear what everyone is getting from their employers, regardless of specialty but I'm particularly interested in those working in women's health.

Thanks!

I am not working, but I was offered a few jobs in the spring that I turned down. I think 2 of them were offering $1,500 and one was $2,000. None of the NPs in my immediate area get anything!

$1500 seems to be the going rate. I would ask for $2000. With air and hotel a one week conference will easily be $2000.

Or pay it yourself and write it off.

I work in a large nephrology practice in the midwest and get 5 days and $1500 per year.

I agree with the "pay me top dollar and I'll get my own stuff". You can write off all of your professional expenses. Get AAFP membership and use that CME (some awesome presentations). You can always go to a real conference and claim the whole thing as well. Use a credit card that gives frequent flyer miles and you'll have free tickets. I buy everything with a FF card and always have free airfare.

My employer is willing to pay for CEU but u need to submit your request:

Up to 3000.00/yr

As I am an employee, it makes more sense taxwise for me to get that as a benefit

rather than to use my aftertax dollar and pay it myself.
