I was going to do some CEU's today before school started and decided to check the BON's website. I'm glad I did because I didn't realize the CEU requirements in Florida has changed since I last renewed.
Just thought I would share.
Continuing Education - Florida Board of Nursing - Continuing Education
All Florida-licensed RN's and LPNs are now in a 24-month renewal cycle and must complete 24 hours of appropriate continuing education during each renewal period. One (1) contact hour is required for each calendar month of the licensure cycle, including two (2) hours on Prevention of Medical Errors. HIV/AIDS is now a one-time, 1-hour CE requirement to be completed prior to the first renewal. Domestic Violence CE is now a 2-hour requirement every third renewal. For example, if you renew your license on January 31, 2007, you are required to complete the Domestic Violence CE before the January 31, 2011 renewal.
OK all, so we have the amount of renewal CEUS required, now, where can a nurse go online and get free CEU's for renewal of FL license?
I don't know if this is allowed, and if not then I will ask MR. Tweety to kindly edit or delete it if it is problem.

Thanks for the heads up Tweety on the CE change for Florida
Have a nice evening to all, and to all a good night :)
Hi guys! I am a new RN in Florida and was endorsed by Saipan BON. The FLorida BON gave me temporary Fl license to be renewed this October with requirement of 2 hrs of Medical error only. Do you think I need to complete all the 25 hours or just their specefic requirement of 2 hours of Medication error. thanks!
thanks for info. i called & was told it's 24 ceu's q 2 yrs -- 1 per month. the 25th is for newbies (like me!) only -- the 1 hiv/aids prior to 1st renewal. as part of the 24 q 2 yr... 2 must be on med errors & 2 on domestic violence q 3rd renewal . all of this i was told by phone, 2 wks ago.

Thank goodness.
I had been doing the required HIV and Domestic Violence updates for the past decade, and the material covered rarely changed.
