We have a wonderful clinical coordinator (nurse practioner) in our dept. She also does education for patients and staff... No one simply gets discharged without a lot of social work involvement I'm sure there's a lot more but I'm pretty new to the dept. Perhaps, I could check with her next week

Hi, I just started in Oncology today...and one of my patients was c/o the same thing. My preceptor (and the patient) told me that flushing over a minute like the IV pushes helped some with the nausea.... (By the way, I hope that your first day was better than mine) OY! :)

I am a fairly new grad. myself (within the last few years)... You know...when you fill out an application and resume...there is a section for "any certifications" etc. ...anything extra...good and related can't be a bad thing esp. for those of us who are less experienced... I say... your course will be a good thing and... make sure that you get a "piece of paper" to put in your records, as well...

Kudos everyone! I am ALSO responding to the letter from that Emergency nurse... Wow! Your posting was needlessly adversarial... All I can say is that your co-workers must "love" working with you...

Wow! I'm a new RN and reading the post/question and replies was a big help to me also... I know in class that they teach us about the classic "pink frothy" but I've never actually seen it.

Yes...thank you! I'm also get the same comments from others or "silence"... There are some bad seeds as you said...as with any place... Also- no matter where I have worked there always has to be some unpleasant bossy staff member to ruin the working environment...or act unprofessionally...

Being small as a nurse is different than being a C.O.... I am 4'7"...and have 10 yrs of Corrections behind me...this includes 3 different states...county and state prisons... The drill is the same...they will try to manipulate you no matter who you are...just remember to keep your professionalism and you'll be fine...the height won't be an issue...

I have worked for several agencies in several states...sometimes...the same agency but a different office...I really feel that the quality of an agency seems to be the office staff more than anything else... Ex....my current agency...in upstate NY...they seem to hold good staff...but the office down in Tallahassee,FL...Oh, my God...never again...morons! This can matter more than the particular benefits...if you can't get good work because of the staff is too disorganized what good are the benefits...

I have to laugh...Boy...no matter what prison you work in:jester:...inmate behavior is the same... I think we've all had these inmates ....what is it with them? :argue:

I have worked for state run FL DOC as well as for privatized prisons (Wackenhut-now Geo) as well as PHS in other states...the private ones seem to pay less as well as poor admin., management and security...never again! Also- in response to the pay issue between ADNs and BSNs...generally the pay is only different if the BSN is in a management position...no matter what setting you work in these days...

West Chester as a town is just fine...I grew up there... As with any town there are crap neighborhoods... I think that your friend was thinking of the area east of the University... but other areas are just fine...like to the west of the campus... and downtown is the same... ..overall it's a good college town.. West Chester isn't just college aged kids.... Check it out... Villanova is a very expensive area and Drexel is in the city... I recommend West Chester as far as a town goes...
