Cerritos College Fall 2011

Anyone else apply for Cerritos College in Socal for the Fall??

Congrats to those who got in! :)

Hi! Its my first time here and first time applying. Its so nerve wrecking waiting cause this was the only school I applied to, since other schools are due in September. But, I called the Health Divisions office and the lady said if you haven't received a letter by now, it is most likely you did not get in. :( Sadly, I haven't received anything yet. Lol. The lady said that the letters have just been mailed to those who were not accepted (dreading that letter). I applied to the PTA program there as well as a backup, hopefully...

Hey guys. I have a theory. Now, this may just be wishful thinking on my part (:lol2:) but hope is almost always good, right? When I called to find out what was going on with the letters last week, the person I spoke to told me the same thing everyone else has reported -- that if I hadn't heard from them by now my lottery number was probably too high this time around. She also told me, though, that I would receive a letter in the mail and would need to fill out the enclosed form to be considered for next time. Now, considering we haven't heard anybody talking about being accepted for Spring 2012, is it possible "consideration for next time" could mean for spring selection? That's my theory and my hope. In the mean time, I'll be starting my next round of apps. Stay strong everybody!!! We'll get there in due time. :D

hnguyen509 and SugarNSass- This filling period is for Fall2011 and Spring2012.

I also was denied this time around. But there's other schools and there is more deadlines. STAY POSITIVE for those of you who have been denied.

Has anybody taken teas test, version V yet? I've taken version 3 and now they're making me retake it! And I only have one week to study. I'm scheduled to take it next Wednesday ahhh...Kind of nervous, I've heard the test has gotten alot harder compared to the older versions. Is that true? Debating if I should purchase the practice tests on the ati website. Any suggestions??? I know I need serious review with chemistry and biology. By the way, what happens when a student doesn't pass the teas exam? Will they automatically be dropped, given that they were already selected for the program?? Will they be given a second chance to take the teas if they do fail? Please help!

You only have to pass with 65% or something crazy low. Don't sweat it. Your Fundamentals tests are going to be 100x harder :p

haha Apgar thats what my boyfriend told me! I noticed that passing rate is quite low (62%). I know I shouldn't be so worried since I passed the teas 3 with a 80% I should be fine with this version (hopefully) as long as it has the same content.

Here's review: http://www.testprepreview.com/teas_practice.htm And yes, what I understand of the process is you receive a letter of acceptance pending your successful completion of the TEAS. This further cuts down the applicant pool. Then they line everyone up according to their lottery pick number and when you go to orientation you will know certainly that you're in for Fall, an alternate, in for Spring or an alternate.

Don't take Version V lightly. Yes it is a lower passing rate but much harder test. To weed out students I guess since this field is so saturated.

Good Luck to all of you planning on taking it.... Study, study, study!

Update us on your progress!

Apgar10--Omg...this whole entire time I thought I was selected for sure. Because on the letter it says "you have been selected for Fall 2011 contingent on passing the teas exam..." So doesn't that mean they've already selected me for the fall? Now I'm worried about being an alternate! =O Thanks for letting me know ahead of time though!

I suggest you start with vocabulary while studying :lol2: Contingent means dependent upon which means you've been selected for Fall 2011 as long as you pass the TEAS test. If you don't pass, you don't become an alternate, you don't get in for Fall. I believe you reapply entirely as they've already selected the pool to draw from for the Spring 2012 semester and have to make room for remediation students from the Fall 2011 semester class.

Apgar--I know what contingent means. In your previous post (if I'm not misinterpreting) you said that upon completion and passing the teas test students will be lined up according to their lottery number to see whether they are in for fall, spring or as an alternate. My letter states that I've been selected for admission into the "FALL 2011 SEMESTER" so doesn't that mean I will be placed into the fall semester once I pass the teas? Plus I also called and confirmed that I was accepted despite of passing or not passing the teas. The only difference is that not passing would mean I have to take remedial courses during the program.

Yes, you're in once you pass the test is how we (the current students) know it. If 15 people accepted to the Fall semester don't pass TEAS, everyone moves up. Someone in another semester who posts here was accepted based on passing the TEAS. S/he did not and needed to take remedial courses BEFORE being accepted. I don't know of anyone in the program who is taking remediation at the same time they are taking theory/clinical.
