CEP Feb. Applicants

Published

Hi all! Anyone else applying for the CEP program through Maricopa Community College during this upcoming application cycle? I'm applying for the GCC/NAU program and was curious if anyone else is applying this semester as well. I'm hoping I make the cutoff - the program is becoming really popular really fast!

I just read through this thread and found it really helpful!

I have decided that I am not going to bother with Gateway CC's LPN program as my ultimate goal would be a BSN. I currently have a B.S. and a Master's in another field (yes making a career change!). I am going to meet with an advisor today at GWCC to ask more questions. I have some of the prereqs required but will need to take some through Rio Salado. Do they require ALL the prereqs and coreqs to be completed before you can apply or do they do a provisional status at all? Also I graduated in 2006 with my B.S. and hoping they will accept my Math 182 (trig), Psy 320 (stats), BIO 201, and BIO 156??

Hoping I get good news today and will be on my way to applying for the GWCC CEP NAU program next year :)

Congratulations to getting ready for the CEP at gateway. Yes, they make you your pre-reqs and co-reqs done a semester before. They just took students for the Fall 2014 and the next application session is in May 20, 21 for Spring 2015 start. If you have everything done that would be a real fast way to getting into the program. Make sure once your on the Maricopa waiting list for the nursing program you go to a information session that is required. Let us know how the advisement went today:)

Hi there... I am back! The advising went really well at GWCC, she was very nice and helpful. I need 6 prereqs to get into the CEP program... and only need one technically to apply to the RN program (the other two are co-reqs I can take during). Soooo I am debating here but I know that the BSN would be a really good option. I can take all my remaining prereqs through Rio Salado (have taken classes through them before and did well) and if I took two at a time, 8 week sessions, could theoretically be done by Dec 2014 and be ready to apply. Here is my concern.... she said that even though yes I can do the evening GWCC (because I work), the NAU CEP classes are during the day. I have quite a bit of flexibility in my schedule so it may work out but does anyone know when these NAU classes are (how many days a week... approx time?). Does anyone do the NAU CEP while working? She said the other option for a BSN is their pathway program in which you start after you have started the nursing block and it looks like it is through ASU (and all those classes are online). Not sure how expensive that is compared to NAU though...

To get into the CEP program with NAU or ASU all pre and co-reqs need to be done. If you get done in Dec you wouldn't be able to able till Feb for the Fall of 2015. They take applications 2 times a year May for Spring and Feb for Fall. In order to do the CEP you need to be on the Nursing waiting list, which is 2 years long. When she was talking about the evening program was she talking about the LPN or the RN program? I just got accepted to the GWCC/NAU traditional day program and the classes are once a week some are online and some are in person.

Can I ask, are you on the Maricopa waiting list for the nursing program?

I believe the fastest way to get into a nursing program right now is LPN route or CEP route. Which if your close to be done with your CEP I would go that route.

To apply to the nursing program I need CHM 130... so I plan to take that ASAP then I can apply (and take the rest of my repreqs in the meantime as well). She said then I am in the pool, can go to the info session, then don't apply to the CEP until I know I am done with the prereqs. I suppose I am confused then... if you are in the CEP don't you still take the same nursing blocks as the regular RN students (with just added NAU courses)? Or are they all together separate?

You are correct after getting in the pool go to a information session. While in the pool called the nursing wait list you can finish all the pre and co-reqs then you can apply to the CEP. The CEP is the same nursing blocks with added NAU classes each semester. Have you taken the Hesi A2 exam?

What 2 co-reqs do you still need? It was a bit of a process, but if you need any information I would be glad to help:)

Just spoke to someone from NAU's financial aid office and they said that they will be creating the financial aid awards for Summer 2014 transfer students this Friday (April 25), so if you have a FAFSA in already you should see something in Louie soon. Just thought I'd let you guys know in case there was anyone wondering about financial aid.

Thank you so much for the info.

Has everyone been admitted into NAU? I am STILL waiting! I have been told for the third time today that they are going to remove the "to-do" item in Louie that is asking for my high school transcripts (even though I don't have to submit these) which is holding up my admission. I am starting to stress that I am going to have problems getting enrolled in my summer classes and getting my financial aid! :banghead:

I'm still not admitted either. I believe they will be in the process of getting us in our classes and getting admitted before the end of the month.
