UPDATE: Hi there! So I did interview with HH, and though the interview went really well they ended up hiring internally for it I was pretty bummed but the unit manager called me the day after the interview to let me know and said that she would have hired me if she had another position open. So at least I felt good about that. The recruiter phone interview will just ask you basic questions like why you want to work for Honor Health, how you became a nurse, and they will also go over the new grad training. Then after the phone interview you have to take these online assessments through Prophecy and a couple of them you must pass with a certain percentage. You also take personality/behavioral assessments. Seeing you do okay on those the recruiter then contacts you to set up an in person interview. In person interviews can vary from what I hear depending on the hospital, unit, and person interviewing you. I was asked behavioral type questions, a scenario/clinical question, asked to talk about my clinical rotations, and a lot of "what would you do in this situation..." type questions. Again that can greatly vary depending on who is interviewing you! Hope this helps!

Hi there! I have an interview with Honor Health coming up. The recruiter said that the interview questions are mostly behavioral in nature so I am trying to get an idea of the types of questions they may ask so I am better prepared. Are they questions like "tell me about a time that you had to make a difficult decision at work..." ?? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks! :)

I hope someone can help me! I'm asking this question for a friend who is not on the forum. I am already in the program but she is on the waiting list waiting for placement. What is the hotline number to call regarding placements? She did not reconfirm her placement and didn't know she needed to so it kicked her out and she is understandably very worried that she'll lose her place. The advisor at Gateway told her to just email and it should be OK but wasn't very reassuring. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Dignity only hires a BSN from ASU? That sounds highly unlikely sorry. I also know a person who is a higher up at dignity health who has said the opposite. A BSN is definitely preferred but they hire people from all over the country with BSNs and even ADNs still. The most important thing is that the program you graduate from is accredited. People should be most wary of for-profit programs. Like with any job, employers are looking for many things not just where you earned your degree. I am in the NAU CEP btw í ½í¸‰

Does anyone have any information about nurse extern jobs? I've tried searching on my own and the information I find is scarce. I have heard that some hospitals hire nurse externs which are nursing students who have completed either one or two blocks but I am not sure how to find out about these types of jobs.

I am in my early 30s and in my first semester of nursing school (a BSN and ADN concurrent program). This is a second career for me, I am going on 10 years working in special education as an SLPA. Several years ago when I started thinking about seriously considering nursing I researched the different programs and then eventually met with an advisor at the community college. I think this would be your best first step is to meet with someone at one of the community colleges and review Prereqs and talk about the program some more. The job outlook does vary and I know even just a few years ago it was very flooded here in Phoenix with new grads, making the job hunt very difficult. To my understanding that has improved somewhat but not entirely. Good luck and I think you'll find some good resources on here as well as good insight from other folks who are already working as a nurse or are in school.

I speak about California rent prices from experience… My husband's family is from there and I have had family and friends living in San Diego, LA area, and San Francisco over the years. Those are the cities where you would make high wages like that and there is no way you're going to rent something nice for 1300 a month! I can't speak about the wages in Sacramento I admit but most people looking at these 90K+ jobs are looking in Southern California or the Bay Area.

So true about CA...rent alone is at least $2,000 a month for just an apartment!

Those people who are shaming you are not your friends, period. Time to cut loose people like that in your life and stay the course. You are doing this for yourself and your kids, no one else. There will be plenty of time and options for you to earn your BSN later.

Really sorry to read about what you are all going through with GCU. Can you file a formal complaint with the dean or president of the university, as a group perhaps? If they misrepresented their program and its requirements, gave false information and guidance that isn't right. They at least owe you some honest answers. Please don't give up hope on pursuing nursing. I decided on NAU CEP and got accepted for summer start after a year long process. It might be the best route for some of you, so far they have been very up front and it's a great program. ASU CEP is as well. Just wanted to say stay the course and whatever happens with GCU don't lose sight of your goal!

I have not received an info packet yet! I have been checking the health stuff off....vaccines, titers, Dr sign-off, etc. Hope the info packet comes soon so we know when to take all that info to them.

I took Chem through Rio too and felt it was easier but that's just me. I think it's because the Bio class is SO much info crammed into 8 weeks. I think the lab quizzes were under 10 mins...like a min or less per question so you have to study prior for the lab. If you did well with Chem there and are used to Rio's classes then you will likely do okay with Bio
