Anyone traveled there before? About to start in Med-Surg ICU. How about housing around that area? Thanks!!!
Thanks for all of the responses. I am the one who started this post. I ended up taking the position in the ICU and it was the worst assignment I have ever taken. I floated 50% the time to "step-down." And because most of the nurses were new, I was the one with the most experience. It was horrible. They are more focused on "protocols" then actual patient care. For example, I had a patient I was admitting for resp distress. The nurses were more concerned about rolling the pt over to obtain a VRE swab and take pictures of there wounds then taking care of there resp distress. That isn't the priority when admitting a critically ill patient. The free floating charge nurse never helped. She only sat at the computer and audited charts all night. The doctors on nights were also horrible. I would never step foot in that hospital. They have money and that's why they have a good rep. I did meet some awesome people and made what I could of it. Also, the pay was great! I am not usually a negative person and can make due anywhere.I ended up going to Kaiser on Sunset in the ICU afterwards and enjoyed it.
Hi Kateyes,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience working Med/Surg ICU....What about housing in the area where u worked Med/Surg ICU....what was the average rents per month...was it reasonable? Thanks for any info...
I've heard many bad things about Cedars Sinai! ICU nurses I've heard float 90% of the time to med surg or tele! And I've heard bad things from nurses who work there permanently as well. Hmmm. I'm @ USC, and it's not the best, but is bearable. Maybe LA just doesn't have the best hospitals?
I LOVE living in Marina Del Rey/ Venice area. It makes any bad day at work worth it.
Hello =)I know I am months late about this reply, but I just recently got hired at Cedars Sinai for the NewGrad Residency Program. It is going to be a 6 months orientation in Med Surg floor. Any input from you guys regarding the hospital's new grad program, the preceptors, and even housing??? pls, pls?
Thanks in advance :)
Can you share your experience about the program?
