I worked antepartum at Cedars last year and absolutely loved it. I was housed in Playa del Rey, which was a 35-min drive but worth it because Playa and Marina del Rey are such great places. I would love to go back if they ever need travellers again! A lot of the travellers were housed in West Hollywood very close to the hospital. But I would choose the beach communities, hands down!

Hi rnWinn I am think about relocated to Cali (LA area) and I ran across Cedar Sinai and am really interested in the hospital. I too am a ob/gyn nurse. I was hoping to take a travel position out there first (God and economy will :wink2:) to see if its a good fit. What travel agency are you with if you don't mind me asking? Any other insight into the hospital would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello =)
I know I am months late about this reply, but I just recently got hired at Cedars Sinai for the NewGrad Residency Program. It is going to be a 6 months orientation in Med Surg floor. Any input from you guys regarding the hospital's new grad program, the preceptors, and even housing??? pls, pls?
Thanks in advance :)

Hey Kateyes, do you mind telling me what agency you are traveling with? I'm interested in the LA area, but not for quite a while and I'm an ICU nurse. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi RagamuffinRN! I also starting next month at Cedars on the 23 for the new grad residency. I actually had an interview with the Telemetry manager because i have experience in Tele but she suggested to just go with MedSurg for now and then transfer later on. Did they offer you the relocation money? They offered it to me because i live about 40 miles away but i'm still thinking about it. I used to live LA for school; too expensive and chaotic but maybe i will again if i find the right place. Do you live around Cedars?
hi hyacinthe!! :) I'm from Las Vegas. I'm not familiar at all with everything around Cedars =( They did offer me relocation money, which I am so grateful for because it's wayyy too expensive in LA. Are you in LA now? or somewhere close? At least you're familiar with it. I had to google everything, esp apartment listings. lol. I have less than a month to move =/
Hello Ragamuffin, yes i live just outside of Los Angeles, towards the Inland Empire. I know LA pretty well that is why i am so picky in where to live there, if I decide to move. When do you start? I've been looking at places near the hospital but they are too expensive. I'd like to live close to the Farmer's Market in Fairfax, they have nice apartments but they are like $2k a month or more! Anyway keep in touch, we might see each other in the hospital

I interviewed (I'm from the midwest) -- their relocation package is not so great (2 weeks gross salary for the move). That'll barely pay for the tickets to fly there.

Hi Ragamuffin, I was curious as to what kinds of things they asked during your interview and what you think made you a stand out candidate for the new grad program. Also, how are you liking it so far? Thanks! :)
