Should I go to Yale's CNM program?
Hello! I know it's been about 9 years since you posted this but I was curious which route you went. I'm guessing by now you are very experienced either way. ?

**Deciding between FNP schools - HELP**
My aunt has her PhD in nursing and works at the graduate level at UC Denver. We had a good talk about FNP programs the other day because I am also interested in doing an FNP program. We talked about USC's program because I had done some research about it also and my aunt made a really good point about USC. She said it's really expensive and it's a gamble because they're not known for their nursing program and it's really important to make sure you go to a nursing school where the nursing reputation is known. Obviously if they don't even have accreditation yet that should tell you something and it may be a at least a couple of years for them to build a reputation for their nursing program and work out the kinks. She also advised against doing a program like University of Phoenix or Chamberlain because they don't have a good reputation in the educational world. I believe University of Phoenix had their accreditation pulled for some financial issues. Best of luck to you!

Aesthetic Registered Nurse Salary
Hi WestCoastNP, Did you do your training on the job or outside in a medical esthetic program geared for nurses? Do you find that your situation is pretty normal financially for NP's working in a medspa? Thank you!

Med Spa NP
Hi Sunshine-momMSN, I see that you are working at a medspa. I am an esthetician and an RN-BSN and I have been thinking about going back to school to become an NP. I am a L&D nurse and was thinking the CNM route but also wanted the option to be able to possibly work in a medspa environment. I didn't know that CNM's could work in the medspa environment. Can you do everything there that say a FNP could do? Thank you!

Autism and induction
I can tell you from personal experience that with my older son (I was 20) I gained a bunch of weight (70 pounds), didn't exercise, drank a bunch of caffeine, had a cocktail (before I knew I was pregnant), ate a bunch of fast food, was 2 weeks overdue and induced, ended up with a c-section, and then bottle fed my baby (that was 17 years ago and I was young and immature). My older son is Mensa smart, and is popular with teens and adults. However, 10 years later when I was 30, I decided to go a more natural route: I exercised (even with a trainer), ate more consciously, had no alcohol, completely avoided caffeine, got massages, hardly ate any fast food, didn't gain as much weight, went into labor 3 days early on my own, dilated all on my own to 10, did have an epidural, and unfortunately my epidural slipped out and I gave up so I ended up with a c-section, and I breast fed my kid for a year--and he has high functioning Autism with ADHD like symptoms. As a side note, both boys have had all of their vaccines. Now that I know a little about about Autism, I think there is a familial link with other outside factors. I have been secretly assessing people (in my head, of course) and found that I think some family members of mine are on the spectrum. :)

WGU BSN Grads: Any problems getting into a FNP program?
Thanks everyone for responding! Sometimes it seems like it takes forever to get a reply to a new post. So you guys got your MSN at WGU and then you will transfer to another school to get your FNP? I had heard that some schools won't accept a 3.0 because the minimum is 3.3 or above. My aunt works at CU Denver and they said I woudn't be competitive enough with a 3.0.

WGU BSN Grads: Any problems getting into a FNP program?
Hi! I am interested in the Western Governors University RN-BSN program because of the cost and time element (I work full time); however, I had heard that because they award GPAs of 3.0 that it would be difficult to get accepted into a FNP or Midwife program. CSU Fullerton said it wouldn't be competitive enough, but CSU Dominguez Hills said they would accept it and currently have students from WGU. What other schools have people gotten into for a FNP? Or has anyone else encountered problems getting into FNP programs--and if so what did you do about it? Thanks everyone! :)

Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
I'm guessing that the ones that are actually read will probably be based on the scoring outcome of the individual's interview. I take it no one has gotten a call yet?...

Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
I was just curious if anyone had called or emailed the recruiters about the whole 3.5 GPA thing. I was curious as to why it was never mentioned before we handed them our packet at the interview. I was thinking that if it was really that huge of a deal with them then they would have listed it on the original application process...

Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
I was also pretty shocked after I left my interview and opened my packet to see that the minimum gpa was 3.5. Nowhere before the packet did it say anything about that "qualification"; and it would have probably saved them A LOT of time if they had stated that during the original application process because it would have weeded out a lot of people like me. I almost felt sick to my stomach when I found out. I had a great GPA that was definitely over 3.5 before nursing school, but between having to run and work a small business (20 hours a week)--which I had to do to survive--and have two kids, needless to say my GPA dropped. My GPA does not define me; I am a hard worker who is dedicated and determined. I felt really great about my interview, and seemed to hit it off with my interviewer. I guess just like everyone else I will have to wait and hope for the best. Good luck everyone!

Cedars-Sinai
I think the deadline to apply for the summer Cedars-Sinai New Grad program has passed. I originally found the info to apply on www.aftercollege.com. Good luck!

Cedars Sinai
Hi Ragamuffin, I was curious as to what kinds of things they asked during your interview and what you think made you a stand out candidate for the new grad program. Also, how are you liking it so far? Thanks! :)

I am going to the open house in June and was curious as to what kinds of things they asked you, and what you think it was that got you the offer. Thanks! :)
