Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011

Just wanted to know if anyone here got an e-mail invitation on Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad Program. I had my phone interview with them on December 29th. I received my e-mail today inviting me to the hiring event Open House for the Program on January 19th. I'm soooo nervous. It's been almost a year since I graduated and I finally got my first in-person interview! It's been so hard on all of us graduates! Let's hope for the best! :D

I totally feel the same way. I do have a BSN but have had such a hard time finding at a job. I've been turned down so many times. I thought I would have a better shot at Cedars because I also live 10 minutes away and volunteered there for 3 years in college. I thought that might count for something. I'm not giving up all hope yet just because HR told me that it might take them until next Friday to call everyone and who knows, maybe lots of people already have their license and so just a few are being put in the August cohort. Also maybe they're not done selecting people for the July Cohorts. At least you have a job, right? I have a 2 year old to support that I had in nursing school and I have no money left from my student loans...

I'm rt there w u guys I have an 11 mo old I was pregnant during nursing school gave birth took a wk off went back & graduated w cumlaude ... It was a tough road & I just want to believe things happen for a reason :) & so my anxiety level from super high this am to almost gone now btw congrats on ur new job at least now u have one....

Btw did any of u went to a recognized school cuz I went to a smll private school fairly new & I wonder if that could b a reason that they haven't contacted us w a yay or a nay...?

I went to a small private school too. Out of state. They were accredited though.

Actually, they are done with the selection process. My friend, who works in HR, already saw the list of 80 last Friday. All that they're doing right now is dividing the 80 into 3 cohorts. That's why each cohort has 25-30.

Still, I know that they haven't called everybody because HR told me yesterday.

Mine is accredited too by the BRN & was working on its WASC accreditation...

I also went to an accredited school I precepted and did my leadership at cedars so had some people to attest to my abilities have other friends who work there now have my bsn and another bachelors good gpa and no phone call... I really wanted to work at cedars but it's seeming like it's back to the drawing boards :(

I just called HR at Cedars. so depressing.

It was so weird because they asked me who interviewed me and that the open house was on June 8. When I told her that I did the interview on June 8, she asked me "no one called you or emailed you??", and when I said no, she asked my name. I guess she couldnt find me and asked my phone #. She told me that the recruiters will be contacting me ( I guess for the reject email...). I think they did all the deciding and calling. She seemed surprised that no one had contacted me/emailed me.

My hopes are down the drain now :'(.

No, don't lose all hope yet. I just called too and she said they haven't even gotten the final list from the Nursing Education Office.

The hiring process for this cohort does seem out of the ordinary from previous cohorts. I had my hopes high as well, because I thought I did very well at the interview. But I guess it doesn't boil down to just the interview. I'm pretty sure many did well at the interview from those I've spoken to. I have a good GPA from a state university. But I guess since I'm an old new grad, I'm out of the picture =[.

I'm an older new grad as well and have been looking for work since last Oct. My previous career was in infectious disease research. I have an MSN and a high gpa, and have my credential as a clinical nurse leader. I've gotten past the first round interviews in almost all of the jobs I've applied for, but haven't made the final cut yet. It's just so tough for all of us new grads. I'm still holding out hope that Cedars hasn't finished all the calls.

I would really like an opportunity to work. I graduated a year ago. It's so hard to be positive when finding a new grad position is really hard....

Well....I think for sure my name is not even considered though. The person on the phone had a hard time finding my name I guess. But until it's official I'll try to be positive...although...it's just sad lol.
