Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011

Just wanted to know if anyone here got an e-mail invitation on Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad Program. I had my phone interview with them on December 29th. I received my e-mail today inviting me to the hiring event Open House for the Program on January 19th. I'm soooo nervous. It's been almost a year since I graduated and I finally got my first in-person interview! It's been so hard on all of us graduates! Let's hope for the best! :D

In other news, how's everyone preparing for the Cedars interview? Does anyone know what to expect or how the Open House works?

oh thats good to know, I've been working on contacting some of my classmates that are working there now to find out any information they have on the process... I'd heard before that everyone starts on m/s... I was thinking of putting ED as my unit of choice since I precepted at Cedars ED and really loved it

i've heard from my classmates things about chain of command, patient safety, nursing responsibilites things like that

not too much sadly...just repeating things i've seen on the other thread for the feb/march start, it was a pretty good size group there and cedars hired a lot for that start time (i hope its as good a hiring round this time)

overall it doesn't seem like its too intimidating just a lot of waiting for your interview, so they both said relax and that basically if we are hired we start in med/surg until a program/training for a specialty like icu, l&d opens up but they are really competitive to get into as well.

So are we still interviewing for our unit choice or are we only interviewing with med/surg managers? Do you think we are doing group interviews or what? I don't understand how this Open House works. I wish I knew what to expect. I hate the unknown lol.

we interview with just med/surg managers and educators, i've heard things won't open up for programs in other units until next year sometime, i don't know how true that is, but my friend said that some want a year of med/surg, i'm hoping the speciality thing is clarified more at the open house or once we are hired i'm a little unclear on the process

I was told by Cedars that they are expecting to interview 300 and hire 50 (possibly more).
