Just wanted to kick this one off for all those who are applying so that we can all lean on one another. So nervous!
I thought I had a relatively solid application (years of volunteer experience, good grades, clinical experience outside of school, glowing letters of rec), but after my rejection from UCLA last week, I'm not so sure anymore. ?
Got a referral this time around, but the referral told me to still apply to other facilities because it's fairly competitive at Cedars.
Good luck, everyone!!
For those of you who accepted offers at Cedars, have you heard anything about our actual orientation schedule/ time? I know the start date is august 9th but I was wondering if anyone has gotten an actual orientation schedule yet and if every unit will be similar the first week. Thank you! ?

From what my onboarding associate told me, different units have different start dates. For example, there is a new grad cohort that starts 7/26 that has already received their orientation itinerary and further instructions.
She tells me that typically the new cohorts don't receive more detailed instructions regarding their orientation itinerary until the Friday before their start date, though they may receive details regarding uniforms, etc., a hair earlier.
So for units like the OR that start August 9th (welcome aboard!), there's a chance we may not receive detailed instructions until Friday, August 6th.
In the meantime, it sounded like their focus is getting the 7/26 cohort ready to go first before they start orienting the later cohorts.

Oh wow okay! That makes a lot more sense. I was wondering what was going on! I completed by EHS/ HR appointment and they had mentioned everything was good but I never heard anything from my onboarding associate after that. I guess right now it’s just about patience! May I ask what unit you will be working in? Thank you!

Oh okay! So after completing your HR transfer paperwork you haven’t heard much more?
I guess we will all be hearing more closer to the start date!
Hi everyone! Congrats on being accepted to the new grad program at Cedars! I started out in the new grad program in 2015 on 8N neurosurgery, then transferred to the float pool and most recently worked on the Alternative Care Units that staffed all the med/surg and overflow units during the pandemic.
Hopefull
