Cdn "journalist" blames Nurses for covid spikes

Nurses COVID

Published

According to Siri Agrell, apparently, nurses and pubic health experts failed to post 'enough' signs for the university educated and privileged classes. Feel free to let this moron know how you feel about her "opinions". FYI - she has ZERO frontline experience and ZERO knowledge about what's actually going on about COVID-19. #Privledge

I don't see anywhere she blamed nurses for anything. Officials, maybe, but I take no offense in her tweet. I agree the information available is pretty crystal clear..

She's blaming public health, which is basically staffed by nurses. Without calling out the gov't for the on-going cuts it's been making to public health staffing and resources.

Yes Caucasian privilege is real and absolutely does exist but tends to be denied by people who benefit from that unspoken privilege, ie Caucasian people themselves.

That being said, I'm not following where you're going from this, maybe you didn't provide enough information? Yes her tweet was stupid but I feel I missed the point that specifically blamed nurses and frontline workers for the issues?

She's developed a pattern as a journalist for only reporting things that are "inconvenient" for privileged communities that also happen to be predominantly caucasian. This incident happened over the weekend where people congregated in a WoodstockFestival-like fashion/numbers took place in a predominantly caucasian neighbourhood of affluence. Some of the attendees now being tracked by public health are of this "privileged" demographic. They weren't homeless or disenfranchised. They made a conscious decision to endanger others. Whether this journalist is aware or not of her bias, she's done it before and she's doing it again but this time she's also pointing a finger at the nursing workforce. She tried to backtrack in a couple of her replies to people on Twitter but they're majorily calling out the bullcrap of her uneducated tweet.

Anyone who knowingly and intentionally endangers others should be held accountable. She's not doing anyone any favors by trying to promote SPECIAL RULES for people of privilege. But she's making excuses because (I also happen to know) many of her friends live in that area, and she has a conscious or unconscious bias to defend their social lives. Regardless, it is harmful to promote that these people should be given a pass. They are aware of the pandemic protocols... and trying to point a finger at nurses/public health is NOT the way to go.

This person is obviously trying to stir the pot to get herself more publicity.... Best way to handle this is to let this person's story drop like a lead ballon. Her ignorance is just not worth my time!
