CCSN Application points?

U.S.A. Nevada

Okay, anyone applying to CCSN. I can't seem to get on the page for showing what points you can get for each thing like Bio 224 is 10 pts and whatever you score on your NLN is so many points. Does anyone know what the points are for the composite scores? Do they start giving you points after 110 or 115? I got a sucky 102...Needed to study more. I heard some places it is 100 to apply to program just curious? I'd appreciate the help.

I am only applying to CCSN. Mainly it is because I don't have the chemistrys and don't want to spend the time taking them and because I have heard really positive feedback about the CCSN program. I have been told that they put out great nurses and make sure you are prepared to pass the NCLEX in order to get a job. I take all of my sciences at NSC though. I really like some of the teachers there. I will be taking my last pre-req this summer, Bio 224.

I'm confused -- CCSN doesn't require chemistry? I go to UNLV, thus I don't know of CCSN's admission policies, but I would had suspected they require chemistry.

I am currently in the nursing program at CCSN and, no, they do not require chemistry. CCSN offers the ADN, not the BSN, that is probably why.

Yeahhhhhhhhh got into 224 for summer w/ Aulner! Gonna do Micro I guess in the Fall. Thought it was just a lil too easy to get in the class this morning. But thank god! I wanna get this done! *sigh*...Anyone else have any suggestions on what else I should be working on to get ready to apply? I know Deadline isn't til November, but I'm sure it will creep up. I know I can't get no 3.0 GPA w/ just one class. Should i try and throw another easy class in w/ the 224?

Woogy, I haven't heard of Pantle, but have heard that Bennett is good, that he/she goes by the notes and is pretty easy. What is Dr. Pantle's style?

Why don't you try sociology to up your gpa? It's fairly easy, kinda interesting, and also earns you 1 extra point ;) I usually check instructors out on www.ratemyprofessors.com before I take them if possible.

Thanks Dee, I actually already took my Sociology...w/ Defazio at CCSN and he was the BEST! If I could take it again, I'd jump on it. He is GREAT! I took all the pre reqs except BIO 224 and Micro. Thanks for the advice though!

I know you said that you already have all the prereq's, but if your trying to improve your gpa and didn't get an A in math I would retake it. At CCSN you can take Math 100B online with Matovina and finish in days with an easy A. I retook it because I wanted to make sure to have all A's in my prereq classes to get the most points possible for the gpa section.

Pantle gives awesome lectures and draws a lot of pictures for you to draw into your notes. He gives great test reviews and gives you practice tests to study by, even on the final. We also never had to read the book. It's nice as a resource, and he also has a few online quizzes from one or two PARAGRAPHS in the book, which are easy to score 100%. His labs are great. He realizes that you can't memorize everything, so he gives you reviews at the end of each day on what you need to focus on. If there are 20 different bacteria, he will tell you the 5 that will be tested on. I learned so much in his class.

Hmm wonder if I could handle Math 100B while taking Bio 224 this summer? What do you all think? I have a 2 yr old..But I guess my 12 yr old could help while I'm doing some homework..Was there a lot of homework in the math class, TCC? I'll have to check it out. Thanks you all! You're Great! Anyone going to take Bio 224 this summer?

It is totally doable. It is online, there is no homework, and no required interaction postings. The only work is the online tests. They are fill in the blank, but with the book right in front of you it is fairly simple. On the first day all of the tests are available. I finished them all in two days and I was taking Biology 189 and Psych and I have 3 kids. I would only take it with Matovina though. I don't know anything about the other teachers who also teach it online. Good luck!

Ok, I think I will go ahead and do it. I need all the good points I can get..I wanna be a Nurse sometime before next lifetime. *sigh* Thanks TCC I looked him up and it says class size 3..lol..the other teacher Villa has 24..lol
