HELLLPP! CSN Orientation and professor questions!
First of all congrats to all of you who got into CSN for the Fall. I am just finishing up 3rd semester, so Littlebugger or anyone else, please feel free to PM me with any questions, I have lots of advice when it comes to the teachers. At the beginning the first semester is very confusing and intimidating since so much is going on, but within a few weeks things start to fall into place and it does get better (well the initial shock of it goes away at least!). Good luck to all of you and enjoy your summer break, I sure am looking forward to it!!!

CSN NURS 125 Pharm opinions?
Do you have lab or lecture on Monday? It is true that you have to go to your site the day before clinical, however depending on your teacher they may give you your assignment a few days prior so you can go over the weekend. I do know people who took pharm on the same day as clinical. After clinical they spent a few hours studying before going to pharm and they liked it. I always want a shower right after clinical, so this schedule doesn't work for me, but for some it is no big deal. If you want send me a private message and tell me who you're teachers are and I can further offer you advice on which day to take pharm.

CSN NURS 125 Pharm opinions?
I definitely think this is a personal choice. I have also taken many online classes and for this one I was happy to be in class. First semester is soooo much work and you feel like you never have enough time. Studying for Pharm always seemed to be put last and by being in class for a few hours a week it guaranteed that I was learning during this time. I know many people who took it online and they passed too though. Just know that it isn't like many online classses where you get to sit at home with your textbook to take your tests. You have to go to the testing center, which means no book or notes. If you do take the class in person, don't take it on the same day as lecture. I did and it was horrible. Every test for both classes was on the same day, so I found myself not prepared for one or the other. It made for a stressful few months. Good luck.

CSN RN Program Details. Spring 09 Beyound!
Unfortunately you are stuck with the schedule and can't trade with anyone. Sew the patches on, the sticky backing doesn't work too good. I set the patches in place by ironing first and then sewed them on from there. My patches are placed about 1 inch from the top of the arm and they look good there. Good luck!!! How exciting!!!

today is the big day for CSN hopefuls
My friend had 27 points and she got in for full-time, got the call around 10 this morning. I would stay positive. The past semesters have taken down to 23. I would of thought with 25+ points you guys would for sure get in, maybe they got behind in calls and will finish making them tomorrow. I am curious if they decided to take less students this semester and that could be affecting the point cut-off, is anyone aware of this???

today is the big day for CSN hopefuls
Congrats to all of you!!! Good luck with the program and my one tip to all of you is - stay up on your reading and always try to read prior to your lecture as difficult as it may seem to do because of time issues.

CSN RN program
Your 101 lab instructor will teach you how to complete the math, but if you are worried about it there is an optional 2 week course that is offered prior to the start of first semester that will teach you everything you need to do. After you get accepted you will get info about this course if you are interested. Besides math, it will teach you how to write care plans as well. I took it and felt it was worth it, but other people didn't take it and they did fine as well...

CSN RN program
Yes that is true. You get 2 chances to pass and if not you are kicked out of the program. It is the same for each semester of the program.

Everyone, share your acceptance points.
I got in for Spring 08 (which uses the current point system) with 30 points. The cut-off for full-time was 23 points.

csn lpn acceptance letters
I applied for Spring 08 and we didn't find out until the beginning of Dec, however our application deadline wasn't until Nov.1. Since your deadline is sooner, I would expect to find out quicker. We were notified by a phone call if accepted into the program, otherwise by letter.

Waiting to start RN program...now what??
I started in Jan, so i also had a semester off. I took my daughter to the daycare for 2 half days to keep from losing my spot and I spent that time volunteering in my son's class. I knew that once school started I would no longer have the time for that, so I really enjoyed it. I don't know how financial aid works, it would probably be best to call them directly to get your answers.

Full time nursing students at CSN
Physical, CPR, and immunizations aren't required until you start. Make another meeting with a counselor at the W. Charleston campus, they seem to know more. When I was trying to have my ?s answered I first went to talk to someone at Cheyenne since that was the first appt they had available and I learned nothing. I then made another appt at W. Char and they were able to answer all of my ?s. Just make sure you turn in your application a few days prior to the deadline that way if you have forgotten something you still have time to get it taken care of.

CSN childcare?
I was a bit skeptical at first as well. I totally understand what your first impression was. After having my daughter there for a year now, I love it. The teachers are all very nice. At lunch each teacher has 3 or 4 children that she sits at the table with and eats her lunch with them. The teachers take pictures constantly of activities that the children are partaking in. Each child has a portfolio that is updated daily with a report and photos. They, not me, potty trained my daughter. I definitely owe them big time for that. They are very good about having the children wash their hands. In fact, I have had to send my daughter in lotion because they wash their hands that much. The theme each week has a lot to do with what the children are curious about. If some of the children find something in a book, outside, or just simply have a question about something, oftentimes the next week will be centered around that item. The children do get dirty at school. They can paint whenever they want, so don't send her in good clothes. When my daughter first started they had a table outside with water and foam fish in it. The children were 'fishing', but my daughter wanted to bathe a doll in it, so the teachers let her. They are really hands on and believe in letting the children explore as long as it is safe. When my daughter is 4 I might look to put her in more of a preschool setting, but for 2 and 3 year olds I think this place is great. Don't let the fact that it is based in a trailer scare you away. Also, most of the teachers have been there for 6 or more years. The 2 main teachers in the 2/3 yr old room have been there for 8+ years. Most daycares turnover is monthly. It is nice to know that your child will have the same person caring for them day in and day out.
