Unfortunately, yes it will. Hopefully step 2 will come back negative. They will have you get a chest x-ray too, but from what I understand they will not allow you in the program. I don't know a whole lot about it, but when I started, the same thing happened with someone and they were not permitted in the program. Your advisor will give you more information about it. I would like to congratulate all of you who were accepted into CSN Nursing Program. I would like to say if you didn't get accepted hang in there!!! From what I read, it sounds like there were a lot of applicants this semester and so the points accepted were higher as well. Don't get discouraged, just do what you can to increase your points, and take classes like pathophysiology, abnormal psych, math, medical terminology, and nutrition. These classes will be very beneficial for you once you are in the program! All incoming students, there are a few things you should know before you start. The orientation is very long, but listen to what they tell you because the information is important. Be prepared for every class, especially clinical. You will lose 3% of your grade if you show up late to clinical or lab, this course is very fast and that 3% makes a huge difference between passing and failing!!! Make sure you have your clinical tickets with you on your first day of clinical! Keep it in your car where you won't lose it!!!! Study, study, study, study like you have never studied before. This program is tough, the tests are tough, and the workload and stress don't help. You will find you don't have enough time for it all, so if you don't study, you will regret it. This is a bad time to procrastinate, it will effect your grade!!!! Don't worry about your schedule either. They basically assign it to you. Everyone will be given a number at orientation and all the schedules are posted on the wall. You can look at the schedules and write down which ones work best for you. You need to pick at least 5 schedules, because they go fast, and you may not get your first pick. You will register for pharmacology online like you do with regular classes. I wouldn't worry about that point. The fact that you scored as high as you did on the TEAS is better than that point! And no, they don't round! Everyone that is applying for spring, take this to heart from somebody who knows exactly what it feels like to not get accepted the first time. You will drive yourselves crazy worrying about your points!!! It is what it is, whatever points you have may or may not be enough. It depends on how many applicants they have. A year and a half ago, I had applied with 25 points, the semester before that, the lowest they accepted was 20 points. I figured I was in. I watched allnurses website, and saw one person after another post that they just received a phone call and they were in, but mine never came. I was devastated! When I applied, they had just changed the exam, and the application deadlines, and there were a bunch of people reapplying because they failed pharm. I was told they had an influx of applicants that semester. I had to take the new test (which I didn't pass the first time) and finally was accepted to start in Spring of 2010 with 26 points (only 1 more than I had the first time), but they also had less applicants that semester, and I had friends that were accepted with less points than me! My point is, every semester is different, and if you don't get in the first time, don't give up! If you get in, then all the stress was for nothing! Believe me when I say, save the stressing for nursing school!!! You will do plenty of it there! Good luck!

Part time clinical is on the weekends. I chose to do the full time track because I don't have to take night, weekend, or summer classes. I have 4 kids and I would never get to see my family. The studying is very rigorous! You will have tests like every other week, and some weeks you will have 2 big tests! You HAVE to maintain a 75% test average to stay in the program and move on. The tests are hard, so plan on spending hours studying. I'm not trying to scare you, it's worth it if you study hard. There is also a mandatory drug calculations test you will have to take each semester. You only get 2 tries and if you score below a 90% you are out! Second semester students (that's me) have to take the math test on the first day! Good Luck!

Hello All, I am a second semester nursing student at CSN, and I thought maybe I could help answer some of your questions. Those of you with at least 25 points and have ALL your prereqs done, and have passed the TEAS, should not have a problem being accepted. If you haven't taken all your prereqs they probably won't even let you apply. You have to have the sciences done, or you won't understand anything! First semester is very challenging!!!! Those of you wondering if you should do full time or part time track, the program is set up so you will have the same amount of work! The first semester is the same for all students, and after the first semester you have the option to switch to part time or full time. Try not to stress too much over your points! You will drive yourselves crazy! I did not get accepted the first time I applied. I only had 25 points and the lowest they took was 26 that semester. It varies each semester. Sometimes they accept fewer points and sometimes not, I believe it depends on the amount of applicants the program has that semester. Good luck everyone!!!

Hi, I think with 27 points you have nothing to worry about. I applied for Spring 09/full time and I am stressed because I only have 25 points. I guess youi can say I'm not one of the "top qualifiers" . I am hoping and praying that I am accepted, so I'm sure you will make it in without any problems. Waiting is the worst part. Good luck.

I have completed all my classes and turned in my application for the RN program, so now what can I take while I'm waiting??? I have my daughter in the childcare program so taking the semester off is really not an option. Can anyone recomend a couple of classes that would be helpful to the RN program???? Thanks.

Hello Newbie, I have just applied for the RN program for next semester and there have been a few changes you may not be aware of. First, go to www.csn.edu/health you will find a lot of information there regarding the points, class requirements, breakdown of the program, selection information, testing information, and orientation dates. The NLN test that everyone is telling you about changes as of Sept. 1st to a new test!!! It is no longer the NLN, it's a new test with new requirements!!!! They don't have a lot of information about it on the web yet so you will have to get it from the health info. office. Also, you have to have ALL your prereqs and general ed. classes complete before you can begin the program. They discourage you from applying before your classes are complete (I know, I've tried! ). Focus on getting your classes done and I recomend you start with your sciences. Depending on what your schedule is like, it will take about 1 1/2yrs. to complete your classes. I did to. I was hoping I would have enough for the part time program, but I only have 25 points, and I'm not willing to chance it. Did they go through the application process with you? When I went in there, I had a few ??'s I thought were basic, and all the lady could say was "I don't know". Do you know what we need for the application process??? I just want to make sure she gave me all the right info.

My daughter has been in the CSN chilcare at the Charleston campus for a year now, and let me tell you they are the BEST!!! She has learned so much there and she loves to go. She is 3, and started when she was 2. The people there are so caring, and they have a great outdoors area where the kids can run and play. It's like a giant backyard. I was a little skeptical at first because I have always been a stay at home mom with my kids. Once she started going, my only regret was that I had any fear of taking her. The cost is low and there are no contracts to sign. This was another huge benefit!!! Hope this helps.

I took 223 and 224, and 223 was A LOT easier than 224. All the instructors at Charleston are good teachers, just keep in mind that because the grades are already on a curve, they WILL NOT round your grade. In other words, if you make a 75.95 (C+) they WILL NOT round to a 76!!! You have to make the percentage. They are not being mean, that is how it is done. You get what you earn. There is no extra credit, your score is only on labs and lecture tests. I have heard lots of people complain the the instructor is "out to get them", this is not true it's just the way it is for everyone!! Good luck!!!

I spoke to a counselor at the Cheyenne campus this week about applying, and she couldn't answer some of the basic questions I had about the application process. I'm not transferring any credits, so do I need official transcripts or can I submit unofficial transcripts? Do I need to submit a copy of my NLN results, or does the school already have a copy? She made it sound like I had tons of paperwork to turn it, but all she showed me was page 1 and 2 of the Limited Entry Application and the Student checklist? Is that all I need to turn in with my packet?? What about immunizations, physical, and CPR? Do those need to be done before I apply or before I start??? I hope you can answer these questions for me because when I asked her the only reply I got was "I don't know." She's the counselor showing me how to apply, but couldn't answer these questions. I don't want to turn in an incomplete packet. Thanks.
