CCSN Application points?

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Okay, anyone applying to CCSN. I can't seem to get on the page for showing what points you can get for each thing like Bio 224 is 10 pts and whatever you score on your NLN is so many points. Does anyone know what the points are for the composite scores? Do they start giving you points after 110 or 115? I got a sucky 102...Needed to study more. I heard some places it is 100 to apply to program just curious? I'd appreciate the help.

Well his darn class is FULL! *sigh* guess I'll keep trying and see if a spot opens up!

I already took 100B wonder if that would be okay to take it again? I could do Math 120, didn't take that. Villa is the only one available for Summer.

You can totally take 100B again, I know people who have to up their GPA. Just keep in mind the GPA points are only for prerequisite GPA. I know someone mentioned taking sociology but that, political science, biol 224, com 101 those will count towards your cumulative GPA but not towards your prereq GPA, and when you're trying to get into the program the prereq GPA is really all that matters.

I am only applying to CCSN. Mainly it is because I don't have the chemistrys and don't want to spend the time taking them and because I have heard really positive feedback about the CCSN program. I have been told that they put out great nurses and make sure you are prepared to pass the NCLEX in order to get a job. I take all of my sciences at NSC though. I really like some of the teachers there. I will be taking my last pre-req this summer, Bio 224.

I hear ya with the chemistry classes! But, I do eventually want my Bachelor's degree so I can't avoid those chem classes. I too only applied at CCSN and I have taken classes at NSC and UNLV. I can't do the Bachelor's at UNLV right now but will do the RN-BSN later. The reason I only want to attend CCSN right now is that besides UNLV, it is the only other accredited school in Las Vegas, and although the other schools have no wait lists and earlier start dates, I just would rather play it safe. Touro looks very appealing to me, so if they get their accreditation by the time I need to swap my Associates for my Bachelors, I will definitely look into that school. And I really hope NSC get's there's back too, I have taken a couple classes there and really like the school.

I go to UNLV, but as far as I understand NSC has accreditation -- its just closely under watch (do they call that "provisional"?) because of their very very low NCLEX pass rates. I haven't heard any updated news on NSC lately, so that status may have changed.

Yes NSC had their national accredidation, CCNE I think. They are still provisional with the state board. They had a horrible first year pass rate. But have consistently improved ever since. The board states on their website that a program must have three classes graduate with a pass rate of no less than 80% each ( something like that, I'd check the BON website just to make sure). Last year's NSC pass rates were in the 80's so if they can keep it up they will be fine. They've made alot of changes over the past year. Like they use ATI tests now for every class, etc. Touro is in the accreditation process and has had their final site visit and is just waiting (the advisor there told me this). They are provisional because they've only had one class make it through the BSN part of the ELM ( all have passed who have taken the test so far) and they don't let you test until you've passed their NCLEX review and practice test.
