Opalm did you take the class before or are you in it this semester? I am wondering if there are assignments taken directly from the book (not just reading) as there is some question as to whether I bought the correct edition of the book.

Open the box right away if you haven't already. Within the inside box are test tubes containing broth needing refrigeration. I almost left mine sitting unopened too. It would have been smart to put a note on the outside of the carton but hey, live and share I guess.

What edition did you get? I just made sure to buy the 5th ed hardcover. The book also came with the olc registration number, did yours?

Ok, I will be taking Microbiology 204 online and I am a bit worried, I have my book and CD but what is this kit everyone is talking about? Now I feel like a numb nut...please someone catch me up.

My class starts Monday with CCConline anyone else in this same class?

Go to www.athomescience.com and order the microbiology kit asap. It might take a while to get to Japan. You have the option of buying a microscope from them, but being in Japan you may get a much better deal on it there. Keep us posted and do write the instructor that you don't have the kit yet so they give you a little extra time to do whatever labs are due soon. (no syllabus until we sign on tomorrow!)

Thankyou for getting back so fast, I took a look at the site and now that I see what all is included Im wondering if this kit will make it thru customs here in Japan? What have I got myself into...LOL I have emailed the company to ask what they thought, so Im waiting to here back. the good thing is Im a day ahead of you all so I always have an extra day for assignments... I will get in touch with the instructor tomorrow and let he/she know what is happening I might have to drop the class and take the 9week course at the end of FEB if I can get the kit. Again thanks for your reply!!!

Hi Stacey,

I don't know how costumes in Japan will be but I live in Germany and I got my kit without problems. You'll have to call them to order it and they'll mail it to your CMR which is a Stateside address (I'm assuming you are in some way related to the military as well). Hopefully you'll be able to remain in class. See you online.

Yay. Isn't the kit huge? I got my book so I am good to go. :)

My fears are confirmed; class starts today and I still have no book. I contacted the vendor and they told me that they mailed the book Jan 8th. I'm very nervous since I'm positive we'll have lots to read once we can acces the class today. Hepefully I'll be able to make it.
