Hello everyone,
I wanted to say hello to everyone applying to Spring 2011. When do you plan on handing in your application? I am so excited to be near the end of my perquisites. GOOD LUCK and I hope to see you all in the spring!!!
CPR: In case it would help anyone, I found a CPR course at the Red Cross in Baltimore that IS acceptable to the nursing dept. I know because I just called to check. It is 8 hours long - you can do it in one day, and it is called "CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer." The cost is $80, and the cert is good for 2 years. I am signing up online. They have openings in the near future. Also - I happened to ask if we still get Spring break in April - and the answer is yes. I got my drug test this morning, my doc appt scheduled, and my background check paid for. I'M ROLLING!:redpinkhe
my letter said i didn't get in because of a low teas score. i passed but it wasn't good enough. i am not worried. i have made plans to get tutored for the next time i take it. i should have done this in the first place. by the way is this the same jess that took micro this past summer with mr. meise?
lucky,
yes i was in micro over the summer! who is this?
being waitlisted kind of stinks but i guess it is better then a flat no...but it stinks because it doesn't give any reasons to why i am waitlisted and why i didn't get in...i am trying to think about my back up plan but i really don't want to put money out on retaking things if i don't have to...i wish it would have said...based on your blah blah, you are wait listed...that way i could plan on what to retake... anyhoo...
for the wait listed people...
we should know something after dec. 2. they will make calls out that week and then send letters after fall semester is over. in the past they said that they used up to 8 people from the wait list and then in other semesters they didn't use anyone from the wait list. so everyones guess would just be a guess...if you are wait listed and get a call for a seat, let us know :) good luck!
Jess33,
I am not done my prereqs. I am in both bios!!! Bio221 and bio230! I know my chances are slim beings I'm in both classes but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! I wish there was a way that they could see my final grades in these two classes for choosing the wait list. I have over 100% in both classes.
Also, for those on the wait list, I know someone that has been accepted into the program but, she is waiting to hear from the bachelors to masters program. If she gets in, that is a spot for one of us.
I also know someone that was accepted into towsons nursing program. I have class with her tomorrow, she also applied at Essex so, if she was accepted to the Essex program, she will decline her spot! That is possibly two open spots already!

Laurie Ellen, how much was your drug test? I already submitted by background check and scheduled my physical, but I don't see a cost for the drug screening anywhere in the packet. I would like to go tomorrow, but I want to make sure I have enough cash on hand. Thanks!!

i sat next to you in lecture. "e.coli 0157."lol
i made up the practice test. i hope you get in!!! good luck!!!
i found out today, ccbc did not use my highest teas score. they said even though the 4.0 teas was higher they used the v version because it is the test they are using now. i would have been better off not retaking the test (they would have used 4.0 if i didn't take v). i wish i would have known this because i wouldn't have retaken it. ugh, that sucks!!!
I went to LabCorp on York Road for the drug test. They didn't charge me a dime. They didn't ask for my insurance card either. I have no idea why that is. I used the LabCorp form that was enclosed in our mailing. All they wanted was my driver's license. You void into a cup. It takes 2 minutes, but I had to wait in there over half an hour. Maybe it is pre-paid?? I have no idea.
The background check is done online. You go on to the link that was on the letter/eclosure in the packet. That costs around $95 (credit card). It takes 3 minutes once you get to the website.
It is my understanding that both results are sent directly to CCBC.
The CPR I am doing at Red Cross on December 28 if anyone wants to join me. You register online and pre-pay. ($80) It's all day. 9-5:30. CPR for Professional Rescuers. I called the nursing dept today to make sure it is an approved class.
All I did was follow the instructions in the packet. When I have a task list like this I hurry to get it all done. I hate this kind of stuff left hanging.
Let me know if anybody is taking the CPR class on December 28.

Wow Lucky they should tell you before you retake it. at least post it on ccbc website. Did you use study manual V.5? It really help me gain my score. ( I took TEAS 2 times)
I asked Gwen Jones what score they would use and she told me the higher of the two. I am pretty upset that I was misinformed. I didn't use the correct study manual. I have it now.
I am the same way Laurie...I can't stand leaving stuff like this to chance so I just want to get it all behind me. Especially the vaccinations...ewww, I hate getting needles (no, giving them doesn't bother me, lol). I am registered for a CPR class at Baltimore County Fire Department. See u all at the dosage testing!!

Congratulations again everyone! I'm JoAnna - I am finishing up A&P 2 now and will be in the Essex day program in the spring! I can't wait for Dec 15th to find out the answers to all these questions we have! I am sure there will be a ton of familiar faces there from pre-reqs!
