CCBC Spring 2011

Published

Hello everyone,

I wanted to say hello to everyone applying to Spring 2011. When do you plan on handing in your application? I am so excited to be near the end of my perquisites. GOOD LUCK and I hope to see you all in the spring!!!:coollook:

I think the cost for the drug screen is included in that $95 for the background screening.

I sat next to you in lecture. "E.coli 0157."lol

I made up the practice test. I hope you get in!!! Good Luck!!!

I found out today, CCBC did not use my highest TEAS score. They said even though the 4.0 TEAS was higher they used the V version because it is the test they are using now. I would have been better off not retaking the test (they would have used 4.0 if I didn't take V). I wish I would have known this because I wouldn't have retaken it. Ugh, that sucks!!!

Oh Hi Hon!! I kind of thought it was you! LOL

That is shady that they didn't use the highest Teas score. I would very much be upset.

There is a place in Essex called chesapeake AED services and they provide the course for CPR that was recommended in our packets for 70.00 and it is only 4 hours long. There is a class this saturday 11/20 or there is one 12/18. Just figured i would share!

I went to LabCorp on York Road for the drug test. They didn't charge me a dime. They didn't ask for my insurance card either. I have no idea why that is. I used the LabCorp form that was enclosed in our mailing. All they wanted was my driver's license. You void into a cup. It takes 2 minutes, but I had to wait in there over half an hour. Maybe it is pre-paid?? I have no idea.

The background check is done online. You go on to the link that was on the letter/eclosure in the packet. That costs around $95 (credit card). It takes 3 minutes once you get to the website.

It is my understanding that both results are sent directly to CCBC.

The CPR I am doing at Red Cross on December 28 if anyone wants to join me. You register online and pre-pay. ($80) It's all day. 9-5:30. CPR for Professional Rescuers. I called the nursing dept today to make sure it is an approved class.

All I did was follow the instructions in the packet. When I have a task list like this I hurry to get it all done. I hate this kind of stuff left hanging.

Let me know if anybody is taking the CPR class on December 28.

Laurie, do you happen to have the website where you signed up for the CPR class you are doing? I was going to try and do the CPR class sooner, but with the holiday AND finals for A & P and Micro, I think holding off and doing it on the 28th would work out the best. Plus it will be nice to know someone anyway! Hope your studying for the A & P test is going well - I'll be glad to have tomorrow's test over and done with

Above is the link to the Red Cross. I hope it works. Click on Class Info, and follow the links to the class schedules for "CPR for the Professional Rescuer". It would be great if you took the class on the 28th!

I have been studying urinary and reproductive anatomy. I am more scared of the practical than anything else. I need to get back to studying for the exam soon.

See you tomorrow...

I will be at the Baltimore County Volunteer Fire Department on 12/11...anyone else? I haven't heard anyone else mention it, but I chose it cuz it was only $25. My husband brought home the brochure and I figured there was no way the class was what I needed, but I called the office and they said "as long as it says BLS for Healthcare Providers and has the American Red Cross symbol on it..."

Anyway, it'd be nice to know someone. I can't wait to meet everyone at orientation...I bet a bunch of us already know each other.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Erika - do you Baltimore County Volunteer Fire Department phone number? I don't know it is the same one as http://www.bcvfa.org because I don't see if they have CPR class on their website.

Thank you

I used this website: About the Baltimore County Fire-Rescue Academy. The classes have been filled up for weeks but my husband works at the steelmill so they fit me in. They might have openings in Jan.

Please post if you or someone you know is not accepting their seat. I know someone who is on the waitlist and it is driving her crazy. Any info would be appreciated.

Jess33,

I am not done my prereqs. I am in both bios!!! Bio221 and bio230! I know my chances are slim beings I'm in both classes but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! I wish there was a way that they could see my final grades in these two classes for choosing the wait list. I have over 100% in both classes.

Also, for those on the wait list, I know someone that has been accepted into the program but, she is waiting to hear from the bachelors to masters program. If she gets in, that is a spot for one of us.

I also know someone that was accepted into towsons nursing program. I have class with her tomorrow, she also applied at Essex so, if she was accepted to the Essex program, she will decline her spot! That is possibly two open spots already!

Hi did they get accepted into their first choice of nursing programs (BSN to Masters and Towson)?

Please post if you or someone you know is not accepting their seat. I know someone who is on the waitlist and it is driving her crazy. Any info would be appreciated.

Trust me....I think all of us on the waiting list are stressing out! If we do get called off the waiting list...its going to be a mad rush to get things done. I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind off thinking about it non stop...but its hard!!

did anyone that got accepted take A&P 2 over the summer at dundalk?!
