Just curious if any who have applied have heard if they've been accepted to CCAC Nursing program for Spring 2010 admittance?
Also, does anyone out there know what the likelihood is of getting your fist choice?
I'm thinking we should all take turns calling CCAC everyday to: A. See how many different answers we get &
B. See if maybe we can just annoy them into sending the letters out NOW! LOL
I emailed Melissa @ North Campus to get some answers on the requirements for beginning the program such as immunization & such. I will share the info when I get a response.
BTW, I checked my mailbox today & nothing. :crying2:
Hi everyone! I did not get anything in the mail today either. I did talk to shannon at CALU, she said that she will not get a list until they mail the letters. She is concerned as well bcs. she has things to do too! She said that she was planning on the new students going to CALU on December 4th so she can give them forms, order uniforms and order clinical bags. She did sugest to start on clearances ( as they may take time) I also went to my campus nursing office and picked up the form for the vaccinations. I will try to attach it for anyone who wants it. I at least feel like I getting some things accomplished! My state criminal clearance is done! My child abuse clearance has been mailed and I got my fingerprints done today! I also scheduled my cpr class! If I don't get in for spring I will be ahead of the game for fall!
Here is the info for clearances if anyone wants it:
State criminal history (takes 5 min online) you need a credit or debit card it costs $10.00 go to www.epatch.state.pa.us follow the directions for a record check when it asks you what it is for put in healthcare ( it was the only one that applied) when you are done just print it.
For the PA child abuse clearance you have to print the form fill it out and mail it in with a money order for $10.00 go to www.psp.state.pa.us find the form cy-113 it is under public services on the left then click criminal history request under PA child abuse history clearance click it may be downloaded here then download and print it.( check off school for the reason on this form )
For the fingerprints go to www.pa.cogentid.com/index.htm choose your state PA then choose the department of public welfare fill out the registration form when it asks you the purpose choose employment with a significant likelihood of regular contact with children ( it is the only choice for healthcare professionals) you need a credit or debit card it costs $36.00 once the registration is complete you print out the receipt and take it to the fingerprint center with your ID drivers licence...etc (They have a list of centers on the website) Good luck again to everyone!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for attaching that form!!!! I agree, I already started my clearances and i have my form for my fingerprints, I just have to go get them done. I scheduled my physical and my CPR class. Luckily my employer offers free CPR certification for employees. :typing
hi everyone =] i know the pain you are going through. Im at the north campus and im in my first semester NRN101. Its challenging but well worth it. I suggest people get the co-reqs out of the way as well.. All i needed when i started the program was ap2 and micro and elective. This semester sucks due to my ap2 class and the nursing class itself. Would much rather just be focusing on the nursing course, but i have to maintain being a full time student. Yes you will need your stethascope. NRN101 is allllllll about assessing. You will need it for lung sounds, heart sounds, blood pressure to name a few. The first clinical of the semester is that you will be in a nursing home for 8 weeks.. then switch to a hospital. Nursing home sucks. We basically did an aides work. You really wont need your stethascope here, but most of my clinical group had them already just for practice. I wish you guys luck and hope you got your letters. I remember checking my mail box everyday for about a month and a half waiting for the reply =] im sure you guys will do just fine!
ohh and yes.. you cannot schedule your classes at the registration office.. You get together for orientation and its like a "lottery" type thing. Total caos! Beware of employee CPRs. I sat through a 4 hour cpr class at my work only to find out it wasnt good for ccac and had to do another 4 hour course 2 days before class started. I guess it was easier for me having the summer to get all the immuno. and clearences. I just paid for blood work and 2 days later got what i was immune to and not immune to... i believe it costed around 250 for physical and blood work at concentra.. then i wasnt immune to mumps so JUST GO TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT because it is only $10 a shot instead of up to $80 a shot!! and yes the registering for classes needs some adjusting.I need to take micro next semester but couldnt register due to not knowing what days i would have nrn classes.. now im screwed out of it bc all the micros all filled.

:dzed: like one of you said before, i don't like saying the same thing over and over and over.. but this is insane! i cannot believe this.. ive been checking the mailbox for about 3 weeks now.. they shouldn't give us such an early date to anticipate, seeing as though last years students recieved theirs late too. ahhh incompetency...:vlin:
