Hi All!
Just sending out a good luck huzzah to everyone applying for the Spring 2015 cohort at the Community College of Allegheny County.
We can start applying tomorrow and the the deadline is August 15.
I am all done with my pre-reqs and co-reqs, so am excited to get this application process rolling. I am going tomorrow to meet with an advisor to be sure all of my ducks are in a row.
Anyone else out there applying?
I'm sorry you still haven't heard anything. I haven't heard anything since I followed up by phone about my fax last week. In my personal experience in the last two years, this lack of communication and confusion is typical of CCAC. I still have debt from my bachelors degree & CCAC is the most affordable RN program in the area so I zane just sticking with them >.
well looks like I will to as I finally got an email and phone call today saying they sent an acceptance letter I just never got anything. I am in the Allegheny Day program. Can anyone fill me in with any other forms that may have come with that letter that might be pertinent as they didn't send me anything more than my acceptance letter via email. Thanks.
Hi there,
I'm in Boyce in my first semester and just dropped by to give some info..
once you've been accepted and confirm your seat, you'll have to hang tight until you get your welcome packet of basic info and instructions on medical/clearances to complete. Get started on that ASAP because there's always some kind of snag with it (ie CPR classes fill up, you can't get your TB test if you just had a Hep vax, your background check gets lost in the mail, etc).
You'll also get info on the date for your class schedule lottery (when you show up to pick your schedule at random, about a month before class starts) and also your orientation, which is usually a week or so before classes begin -- this is literally the only info you'll get until you show up for orientation. While that's frustrating as all hell, it sort of makes sense. You get all your info at once, and all your questions get answered by your nursing instructors, who are pretty much the only reliable sources on any of it.
In the meantime, once you get your packets, just start ordering your scrubs and getting those clearances done. It's exciting to get the uniform, even if you've got a while until you start.
Congratulations, hope to see some folks around Boyce eventually!

I called today bc of the dark fax. I said I also sent my letter in via snail mail and the secretary said they were going to go thru them all after the Oct 10th deadline but that she had me marked down as yes (bc of the darkened fax).
