CCAC Fall 2011

Published

Hey!

Is anyone applying for the RN program that starts Fall 2011?

I'm going to apply for South. Last I checked, they didn't have the application packets yet. I hope they get them soon! Do other campuses have them?

It would be great to get some discussion started. Thanks everyone!

I am working down the list of what needs to be done. There is no book list yet for my campus. Hoping by next week they have it ready to go.

Scheduled my physical, cpr class. check.

Sent in the two clearances. check.

Friday I am doing the fingerprinting. will be check.

made my scrub fitting appointment. check.

drug testing at the physical.

tb test - tack that onto friday as well. check

Immunizations at the physical. check

then just sit back and wait for it all to come back.

Hello everyone, I am behind on this thread.

Emilyjoy: To answer your question about the packet for South Day... as of today's mail I have not received it yet. I wonder if each campus is mailed out different times. Let's hope so.

Swenmom: WOW you are on ball. Good for you! I only hope I can be half as organized as you, I know it will make a difference too!

Each campus mails out their own packets. Our information is all due back by June 30.

Each one has different requirements as far as equipment goes. Allegheny does not have to get the nurse tote.

Thanks for all the info!!

Another question... I was looking at CCAC Central at when the nursing courses are (for south), and it looks like people are already registering. For example, one 101 class says there are only 4 seats left, out of 45. I thought we had to make an appointment and register with an advisor for nursing courses. I wonder why it is showing that.

Does the packet say anything about registration?

Oh my, I didn't realize we are to meet with the advisor. I assumed we were automatically assigned to classes in the program for day or eve?

I just checked CENTRAL and there is no one in any nursing class yet for Allegheny, South or North. I know blackboard and central were acting up after the last update. I dont know when or how we will be told to register - it did not come in the first packet. Other than all the clearances, scrubs, etc it only says that ORIENTATION is the week before classes and that it is MANDATORY.

I am wondering if they will send the registration stuff later - or if maybe you get it once you have all your clearances and other paperwork?

I was told at registration prior when I put in PRE-NURSING that I was to meet with an advisor when actually admitted to nursing. I wish there was a little more info available.

As I understand it we wait until orientation to register. They will choose the order in which we select our classes and that is how we get our schedule. At least this is what I gather from the CCAC Spring 2011 thread and a friend who knows someone in the program. I agree that there should be more information.

I was told if you are accepted you are guaranteed a seat in the NRN classes, day or evening which ever you were accepted into. Clinical is different though. You might have clinical during the day even if you are an evening student.

I think you are right. CCAC Central must have been acting up because now it is showing that no one is registered yet. Whew, that scared me for a second!

Still waiting on my packet. Hope it comes today so I can get started. Busy summer ahead!

I did my fingerprinting today. It was not that bad. I found a place in the west end I stopped at on my way to class today. It took about 20 minutes to do it. All electronic - no messy ink. I had not had fingerprinting done since I was a Brownie Girlscout.

I did mine at the AIU in the Waterfront. It was very quick. I went during the day and was the only one there so it took about 5 minutes. I got fingerprinting done in September for my job. I wonder if they will accept that?! Probably not, but I'll have to ask.

Hello everyone, I received my south campus letter giving the "checklist" of things to do before July 29, 2011. It also states that "additional dates and times regarding registration, uniform fitting, student orientation and obtaining your CCAC student Id will be mailed within the next couple of weeks." So I gather that after we do all the required clearances etc, we will then take the next steps to register. What a process but all worth the wait and end to the guessing what to do next. Good luck everyone with the checklist.:stdnrsrck: :BDCk: now I am ready for a piece of chocolate cake!
