If he is going to be living in Guam, then he is going to need a license for there. CA license in not valid there.
One cannot apply for the NCLEX exam, there is no such application. He can only apply for licensure as an RN and meet all of the requirements for the state where he is applying to.
Thread moved to the International Forum since it is specific to working in the US.
Also not sure what you mean by CBON, we do not use that in the US. CA has a Board of Registered Nursing called the BRN. We have several states that begin with the letter "C", so do not use only the first initial of the state.
Where is CBOB?What state?
You could apply in another state that does not require local boards, Texas would be one of those states
Sorry, but if he is not going to be working in Texas, then there is no reason to go for a license there. They also require the CES before they will do anything.

CES first.
Apply to Texas State Board of Nursing
Sit for NCLEX, and then transfer license to California via license reciprocity between states.
Won't that work.

Again, incorrect. We do not have reciprocity for licenses, only the exam has reciprocity. And the person is going to be working in Guam at least that is where the wife is now. So that means the license for Guam, they do not accept a license from any other state.
Licenses also do not get transferred, there is no such thing as that either. They are endorsed and that means that they just meet the requirements for the new state and get an additional license. But Texas does not issue a license without a SSN#, and if this person is just in the process of being petitioned by a spouse, then it is going to be quite awhile before they will have the SSN# and be able to work, it is never immediate.
CA license is only valid CA. Texas license is only valid in Texas if the person is not already a legal resident there. Guam is a US territory and has its own license and its own set of requirements for licensure that will need to be met there.
Not sure why the poster is even having the spouse go thru CA as they are going to need a license from Guam to be able to work there in the first place. And only that license is acceptable for there.
If CA BRN is indeed requiring the local license now and Texas requires the CES, would it be better to just go straight and apply for licensure to Guam and not go in a merry-go-round?
Unless, Guam still requires the CGFNS Certification for Initial Licensure and does not require at least a CES for applying for Licensure by Endorsement plus local licensure to them then it may be easier to just apply straight to Guam since that is where he intends to work. Just my opinion.
yeah Guam does require the CGFNS... thanks to all that have replied to my post by the way :nuke: the only licensure he can take is for the LPN.... i was so hoping he could take the RN and he chose california since his father lives in California and we will be moving there in a couple of years just after his petition clears the conditional status etc. etc. im still new to the visa thing, sorry... anyway if it is complicated then maybe we will just take the LPN first then go from there.......:nuke:
Hello! I understand that BRN does not need a local license but in Texas I think they do require a local license. I'm confused because here in the threads they mentioned that it doesn't require a local license but in the Texas board of nursing forms, there is a portion for license verification for graduates outside the US. Please advice.
Thanks!
