and be warned that it is unlikely that any cbl credit you earn will likely count for zilch anywhere you might want to transfer....

i've learned this through bitter experience.

every other non-cbl school i applied to said 'sorry, back to first year for you'

Seven,

I went to school in Edmonton.

Don't quit - it's not worth it in the long run. The best advice I can give is milk your clinicals for all you can, do lots of reading on your own and don't be afraid to ask questions when you're done. Honestly, everyone I graduated with is doing fine. Other nurses have said that they don't notice a difference with us at all... in fact, some say that we're stronger than grads from other years. Still doesn't make it easier, I know.

Hang in there, you'll do fine. :)

Yes, it is true. You can't transfer any CBL courses to any other school. In Alberta, the only places you can go that doesn't have CBL is Calgary and Lethbridge...

What happens when you come across something that wasn't handled in your little group? Do you call a "conference?"

This looks like what you see at CEU conferences etc. when you break up into small groups (also known as....lets the instructors have a potty/coffee/smoke break).

I heard someone talk about this once before on this board. I remember thinking this concept could be useful to a group of people who have experience in the area they are studying. I also thought it would be overwhelming to someone who was totally green.

um, actually, Lethbridge went cbl too...(i know because they announced it the week i looked into thier program as a possible alternative)

as for what do you do about missed content--the answer i get is 'don't worry, it'll all come together...those questions on the final exam about content you didn't cover? oh...well...hmmmmm'

(think i can't write 'hmmmm' on the nclex?)

i wasn't reassured. would you be reassured if that missed content directly related to the care of a loved one?
