Case Study Help!!!!!

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I am in last semester of nursing school and I am having a serious case of writers block. The case study is about making assignments, coaching and analyzing performance. We have to figure out how would we resolve the situation.

Scenario:You are an LPN recently assigned to work on the skilled nursing unit of an acute care hospital. You are responsible for a team of five CNAs. One of the CNAs has worked in long-term care for many years. She is a caring employee and does a great job, but does not have a restorative approach. She would rather do for her assigned residents than encourage them to do for themselves. You notice she does not walk her residents and frequently applies vest restraints to keep the residents safe.”

So I far I determined that I want to meet with the cna to discuss the behavior and the expectations for her. We can discuss what can be done to correct her behavior. I then would analyze her performance. After that I am stuck any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Once you analyze her performance and make a decision as to how she is progressing what would you do next? Offer feedback?

Thanks for the info

This assignment is more about you than that aide, as I am sure you understand. So what do you, the nurse, know about scope of practice and autonomy in judgment of the people to whom you delegate? Can she decide to restrain residents? Can she decide not to walk them? Can she decide not to implement parts of the nursing plan of restorative care?

Think about those three questions and see if that gets you more insight into your role and responsibility to patients as her supervisor on your unit.
