Capella Flexpath RN to BSN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone, I just started the program in March. I'm definitely struggling a bit with the format. I realize we are on our own, but I figured there would be some sort of powerpoint or video lecture. For those that don't know... there isn't. Here are 3 papers on topics that we aren't going to teach you anything about... here are the 25 things we want in each one... go. No instruction of any kind. This is unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Beyond the rant... I really do want to be successful but here are a few of my issues so far. Perhaps someone has some feedback or suggestions.

I've been out of school since 2008 and went through ALL of school (HS, College, paramedic school and nursing school) without writing any papers. So, you can imagine how hard this might be.

Another issue I'm finding is the lack of communication / feedback from the professor. I've messaged her over 2 days ago and have yet to receive a response. Her grading is weird with random highlighted spots and underlined areas but no real notes as to what it is she's trying to point to so how am I to correct the paper. (I got an A on the paper but I'd still like to know what she counted off for.)

Third - I'm not sure the point to the "coach". Again, it seems to take forever for them to get back to anyone. Does anyone have some insight?

There also doesn't seem to be any network of classmates?

I don't know folks. I just feel so overwhelmed.

PS - Anyone know the facebook group link?

THANKS! ?

It’s accreditation is National I believe but always check with the admissions person.   I was at GCU and they wanted 100 clinical hours.   I’m not sure of prerequisite requirements because I never dealt with that.

Thanks for all the info!

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Supervisory, HEDIS, IT.

You’re most welcome and best of luck ?!  If you apply use my name as a referral and I get $5 to donate to a charity!

Will do! What name do I use?

I appreciate reading the different experiences.  Two questions... for an older student who has been out of school for awhile:

1,  Any recommendations to best acclimate myself to APA format?

2.  What did/ do you use to record videos?

Thanks!

They have a program they use that is built into the Blackboard online platform - it’s called Kaltura.
As for APA.  I used the PERRLA add on in Microsoft Word.  It helps format your title page, reference page mostly.  I cannot sayr references you help you wrote better APA.  I somewhat remembered it when I was in school 7 years ago and just caught on as I went.  There are sometimes example papers when you’re writing an assignment posted by the school to give you an idea.  The OWL PERDUE site isn’t bad either...

Thank you!

I use Google chrome/ docs. I think they have an extension as well for APA but perhaps I should also get Microsoft Word.

Specializes in LPN.

Capella goes based off of quarter credits as colleges go based off of semester credits. For example I have 90 semester credits it will equal 135 quarter credits. According to the counselor I spoke to you need 130 "quarter credits" in order to only require the 6 core nursing class, so others may need additional classes.

do you need to take pre req course for Capella RN to BSN flex path?  is does Capella offer all the classes one would need for RN to BSN?
