What will help me on floor once I start. Any advise recommendations, what to bring to floor.. any thing. please help a excited but scared nurse. sara
  3. Oh I think I didn;t get it because I was to honest about a specific question and I guess I should have fibbed a bit.. But I not one to lie but now I regret it as that may have been key. They new from previous statement as I told I fell in love or new it was my passion to be in mother baby unit due to my experience I had with Labor and delivery during school. So I was ask do you feel labor and delivery is your want or nursery. -- I stated to be honest I did not do nursery in school so I can't say which would be a better fit for me but that I loves working with the mother baby after delivery so I fill this would be great fit. I had just shared my experience in labor and deliver as that what clinicals we did and I thought that would help. I did say I wanted L&D more I just I had nothing to compare the experience with..So I sure if by not saying I want nursery more did in for me. but then they gave me tour of what unit look like and I feel in love. My excitement grow that much more..UGH I truly don;t know but I don;t feel good about it now..
  4. why is having those question a day before interview not so good? I only had a day and half notice. I got the call for the interview Tuesday after noon. SO I did not have time nor was I expecting a call either or I would have prepared much sooner. well I think it went good. The seems pleased with me. it was mention about a possible panel interview they may do as well but I really not sure. I don;t think I got it. WHICH I REALLY WANT IT so I am bumb but she said she wanted to decide by this coming Thursday. I did bring a portfolio but she stated it was necessary as it was a new grad position. they had opening as a nurse was retiring.
  5. A few more things I thought of.. what should portfolio look like? Does need a special cover, do I need one or just bring copies of resume, certificate I have? Should I not say how much I want this or how long IV been dreaming for this? I do t want come off poorly or over doing it! Ism so nervous and excited I’m getting panicked! any advise …

  7. is there any online L&D course you can take that is good to put on resume with no L&D experience? I have been RN for 4 years. I have worked at SNF and now Home health. I REALLY want to get into the L&D field but never get a call back. I know I do not have experience but there is only one way to get but if you don't even get looked at , how? I did take a intro to fetal monitor course online so I have that now but looking for more to add to see if this will help? Is there a L&D association I should sign up for? I live in CA- bay area so anything tips would be much appreciated. Sara

  12. I was an LVN for 2.5 years and has been an RN for almost 3 years -( prior to LVN I was a medical assistant for 12+years- I worked by way up with 3 kids) all of my experience is in skilled nursing and home health. I have been trying since graduated RN in 2018 to get a job in a hospital, in ca- Bay area and have been unsuccessful. I do not have BSN yet. every time I apply to hospital jobs I get rejected with automatic replies stating that they are looking for candidates with " more experience or we found better matches"....how do I get the experience of hospital work and/or a chance to work in a hospital if I can't get into hospital?? I have revised her resume several times. I have asked friends they say it looks good. I I am not thinking of having it professionally done to see if that helps. but I am lacking "hospital experience" other then my school clinical. I have applied to new grad as I feel I still am since no hospital experience and I am told that I am not a "new nurse" because I have had " paid RN jobs? I am very discouraged and frustrated and do not know what else to do...do you have any suggestions ?
  13. I am in the same vote as ineedachange1, BSN, RN ( first post) I do not understand how to get the experience of working in a hospital if I CAN"T get into one??! It has be very discouraged and frustrated. I have had multiple nurse that I have trained for home health I am currently working at tell I would be great in hospital. I have a lot experience with wound care although I am not certified wound nurse yet.. I just need to get foot in door and I can't seem to make that happen.. I don;t get passed the automated email and when you call all you get is " the application process is online"....I even trying temp placement agency but that worries me be trying just to get in.. still nothing... I live in ca- the bay area... I cannot move to another stated. I have a house and young family so this is not an option for me... any other tips, Please help!
