Capella Flexpath RN to BSN 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone, I just started the program in March. I'm definitely struggling a bit with the format. I realize we are on our own, but I figured there would be some sort of powerpoint or video lecture. For those that don't know... there isn't. Here are 3 papers on topics that we aren't going to teach you anything about... here are the 25 things we want in each one... go. No instruction of any kind. This is unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Beyond the rant... I really do want to be successful but here are a few of my issues so far. Perhaps someone has some feedback or suggestions.

I've been out of school since 2008 and went through ALL of school (HS, College, paramedic school and nursing school) without writing any papers. So, you can imagine how hard this might be.

Another issue I'm finding is the lack of communication / feedback from the professor. I've messaged her over 2 days ago and have yet to receive a response. Her grading is weird with random highlighted spots and underlined areas but no real notes as to what it is she's trying to point to so how am I to correct the paper. (I got an A on the paper but I'd still like to know what she counted off for.)

Third - I'm not sure the point to the "coach". Again, it seems to take forever for them to get back to anyone. Does anyone have some insight?

There also doesn't seem to be any network of classmates?

I don't know folks. I just feel so overwhelmed.

PS - Anyone know the facebook group link?

UPDATE

So far the professor has taken 2 weeks to answer the first email, responded to another several days later, responds to a message calling me by the wrong name (my name was right in the email), then responding to the SAME email a MONTH later. I legitimately think she isn't all there. To top it off, her grading is atrocious. She puts random highlights on the paper that is supposed to indicate... what exactly? She later told me its to indicate something I did wrong... but then never tells you what it is you did wrong. It's pretty ridiculous.

How have you been doing with the program? Have you joined the facebook group for the RN to BSN flexpath?? If you not really should. There's A LOT of good information, which instructors to select, which to avoid and also great tips and amazing motivation from others.

Hi! How do I join Capella RN to BSN flexpath. I am thinking about enrolling at Capella for the Spring semester. I would like to know which teachers to select and have a support group that is going through the same program. Thank you!

Join the “Capella RN to BSN Support Group” on facebook. That can help with tips on which instructors to select. As for joining. Go to the capella website and fill out the RN to BSN form, I’m sure someone will contact you and go over the admission process. ?

Hello, I wanted some info on Capella Flexpath RN to BSN. I haven’t decided if I want to apply to this school. I’ve seen some reviews that you have to do videos on some assessments. I heard on one of them you have to make a 20 minute video, that’s pretty long. What exactly do you have to do in the videos? Are you teaching or talking about your paper? Can anyone give some info please. Thank you.

I personally loved the program.  I only had to take the eight core classes in order to graduate Because I had a lot of transfer credits. It is mostly research papers, a few videos, A few power point.  The video you were Referring referring to is a maximum Of 20 minutes if I remember correctly my video was about 12.  You basically write out a script before hand and read it it was actually kind of easy but you are right it is a long video.

I worked at my own pace which was good for me.   There is a facebook RN to BSN Capella support group that really really helped get through the program.

Thank you for the reply! That doesn’t sound so bad as long as you can read off your script. Do you need any clinical hours? I wonder if the program is doable with me having 2 jobs and kids who are online schooling due to schools closed. How long did it take you to finish? how often do you turn in assignments? And how many hours do you spend on assignments? I wanted to start next year but may apply earlier since they have a 30% discount when you start by December. Tips and info would be great!

I don’t have kids and I already work at home so I took off work for 2 weeks and 2 days and finished the program in 24 days.  I was always taking 2 classes at a time.

There’s A LOT of people In the support group I was talking about that have kids and they would be the best people to talk to about it with.  It is in no way a race that’s why it’s a good thing that this is self paced you can take week to finish a class or 2 or whatever.

There are 3 classes that require a “clinical component” but no face-to-face time.  2 of the Classes are now referring to a hypothetical patient in lieu of in person.  The capstone/final class requires 3 remote clinical hours of teaching someone.  You are allowed to pick your topic to teach and your patient.  I used my mother and her sister and diabetes...

I finished 7/2 and that was the requirement at the time.  Talk to admissions and they can go over more of it.

The group is VERY motivating

WOW!! CONGRATS on finishing in 24 days, that’s amazing. I’m in no rush to finishing quickly, as long as it’s under one year I’m happy with that. I’m glad I came across Capella because I almost applied to , but with WGU you need I believe 90 clinical hours for california, also you need to take bio Chemistry and statistics. I’m based off of California, is Capella accredited to be used in California? Not sure if you’re from Cali. Thanks for all the info.

THANKS! ?

It’s accreditation is National I believe but always check with the admissions person.   I was at GCU and they wanted 100 clinical hours.   I’m not sure of prerequisite requirements because I never dealt with that.
