cant get into pre-reqs?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

WOW talk about the state taking money away from schools and the economy still in a dump! My school is only offering ONE class, (your heard me) ONE stinking pre-req class. What am I supposed to do if I don't get in??? I have nothing else to take...Plus I register really LATE on top if that...

Anyone else worried they can't even get into pre-req classes LET ALONE ns one day???

Registration time for pre-reqs was such a stressful time. I live 75 miles from the campus where I needed to take my pre-reqs. There are many people wanting to sign up for not a lot of classes offered. :( I was too nervous to try to register online in case my internet failed or something...so I would leave my house at 4:30 a.m...to be there at 5:45 a.m....to be the first one when the admission doors opened at 7 a.m. to register in person. I did this for several quarters. I was always fortunate to get the pre-reqs I needed. I know so many who didn't get in. If your school doesn't offer the pre-reqs you need....drive somewhere that does. If you want something bad enough you'll find a way to make it happen. I was accepted in nursing school and start this Sept. 2010. I will be driving 166 miles round trip a day, 5 days a week, for the next 2 years. Good luck!

Im in my pre-reqs, but I only have A&P, algebra and micro to take, but I need to go full time to get aid, so Im taking a ton of electives that seem interesting/helpful - drug addiciton, nutrition, abnormal psych, etc. I can't believe your school is only offering one class, thats insane!

Um yeah...one of each ant, physio, micro. I just don't know what to do and I don't have a job either so I don't even know how I am going to pay for this whole thing anyway...

I felt that pain. Fortunately (with strategy), I was able to get into all of my pre-reqs I wanted. And now since I have over 30 credits, I am in the first priority. Though, if I am not at the computer at the 5pm online sign up I still risk not getting into classes I want.

Have you checked out some community colleges? Have you thought of taking any online classes?

Online classes edukan.org no out of state tuition for online students. I took Micro and Chem online there and they're 5 credit courses if you are going the BSN route some schools will not take 3 or 4 credit science or math courses from community colleges but will take 5. If you are going BSN talk to the nursing advisor of that school to see if they will take the classes. Edukan courses transfer to my University really easy and the Dean even knew who edukan was so that helped.

They don't offer online classes for science pre-reqs. That just doesnt make sense.

I mean I will try and register for the classes and if I don't get in, I always show up the first day of class anyway to see if people don't show...I don't know if Ill get in but its worth a try.

Priority registration is like july 26th or something while i register aug 9th. I mean I guess I just wont be in NS for 10 years....at this rate

im in so cal btw

Check out other schools that offer online science courses. They DO NOT have to be in your state. In state would be cheaper but like I said edukan has no out of state tuition for online students. I know your upset but be proactive and stop thinking negatively if you want to take science courses for next fall you will you just have to be proactive about it.

Schools do offer online science courses, the labs are simulated. My community college offers 3 types of science courses: on campus, online (simulated labs) and hybrid (online courework, on campus labs.)

But, before you go signing up for an online class, you need to make sure your school will accept it.

Look at online courses. There are many schools that offer them and many students who take advantage of this option. Online science courses are offered by University of New England, Ocean County Community College, and the Colorado consortium of community colleges, to just name three. Check these schools out.

Hmmm Sorry, maybe its a new thing but I never though science classes would be online but ok. I don't think anywhere around me offers online science courses, and I am applying to all ADN programs in a 60 mile radius and I am 99.9% positive they won't take online science classes.
